Is bokeh a meme?
Yes. Gook photographers meme with it like dumb frogposters. Ever seen an Asian actually taking nice photos with their expensive gear? Nope. They're just mindless brandfags.

Bokeh isn't but shallow depth of field is.
>>3049901
Why? It's just a way to make the subject stand out. But it's also highly overused by newbies.
>>3049904
I agree that gook photographers seems to use it a lot more. But is it really a bad thing?
Whether it is indoor or outdoor Asian background generally looks like shit (dirty street, commies block & ugly buildings, a lot of people or vehicles, ugly furniture) so shallow dof is probably preferred to make their photos presentable.
Not necessarily but shooting wide open in all but the shittiest of light certainly is.

> you need 1.4 to isolate a subject
>you enjoy only having a thin sliver of what you're trying to isolate in focus
listen to your eyes, friend.
>>3049914
>square bokeh
what the fuck is this shit
>>3049901
no it's a creative tool, just like motion blur or light flares.
You will find quite a vocal group of people online that insist that bokeh is a "meme", what you will also find is none of these people can afford full frame gear.
Basically they're trying to piss on your chips, because they have no chips and are seething with envy.
>>3050124
like this faggot.
"group f64" was a thing among many prominent photographers including ansel adams, the name is fairly self explanatory. They were memelords, because their work was defined by arbitrary constraints, as opposed to just personal preference.
Also, Bokeh sells, is money a meme too?
Bokeh is the politically correct way of saying out of focus, Liberals' way of being nice. Not hurting anyone's feelings.
>>3050131
>removing the background from the equation so you dont have to worry about composition at all
>most effective tool of composition in photography.
i guess youre technically right if you regard effective as getting the shot fast without any work whatsoever, but wew
>>3050575
>Uh, you can get good looking photos anywhere with the right gear, takes no skill
Spot the poorfag.
>>3050112
Give me some examples you consider as good bokeh then.
>>3050584
look at the most iconic portraits in photography history, is the background on any of them a blown out bokehball jumble? nah. the best portaits puts their subject in a context, and make the context interact with the subject. great photographers consider the whole photo, not just the foreground/subject
>>3050615
no you dumb faggot.
pic related
>>3050615
"The most iconic portraits" are just famous people, historical events or b&w meme supported by media exposure at a time where there's only a few photographers though. By today standards they're pretty shit desu.
>>3050615
OK...
All I could see was how wrong you are.
>>3050615
bro, you're all kinds of wrong
>>3050615
practically the only avedon portrait with a non white background...
How cucked are you bruh?
