hey /p/
been hanging around /fgt/ for a while now answering and even asking a few questions.
thought i'd contribute a bit to the board.
a little about my /p/ background:
i first picked up my dad's camera when i was about 10
started doing my own processing and printing in HS around 1996.
have been doing my own images start to finish ever since.
these are all scans of photgraphic prints.
i've never really digitized my stuff and all this was done on a potato tier scanner and edited with iPhoto
no major post processing here, just enough to stay true to the originals

thanks for looking.
anyone who would like to discuss darkroom techinques and/or critique is welcome.
just keep in mind, i know these are not high quality digital images.
this is really my first attempt at digitizing any of my work.
Very nice thread, needs more than four photos.

I can't say I like any of the photos except OP, but it's good to see someone on the board at least practising the craft correctly.

Nice work, please post more! What enlarger do you use? Favourite paper? What format of paper do you use?
I use a Meopta Axomat 4. I have a colour head for it too but I have only tried b/w. Also it's a shame it doesn't support MF, now I can't make prints with it from my Bronica ETRS shot negatives, which sort of ruins the fun in shooting MF (I have only a small amount of space and I wouldn't want to ditch the Axomat 4 as it's a great enlarger)

Fuck yeah /darkroom/ general??
I've got a few test prints I can post, scanned with a toaster too. Like the other anon said what's your darkroom set up look like?
This was c330+135mm on neopan 100 printed to ilford RC pearl.

I haven't been printing for too long I'm trying to improve more, these are older prints from my vivitar e34 + Nikkor 50mm lens. I realized quick that having proper boardering on my prints is nice and that my enlarger actually wasn't level for a lot of my early prints and can be seen when printing the whole full frame the image is being transformed improperly. I now have a beseler 67x with a b&w head and dichro head, I mainly use the b&w with contrast filters instead of the colour head, also this new enlarger came with a foot pedal switch which has become invaluable the more I print.

thanks for the kind words, anons!
i'll try to answer all the questions i can.
the main enlarger i use is a Besseler 23CIII
a real workhorse, nothing fancy.
but i do have a nice Schneider lens for printing medium format.
my favourite paper for a long time was Agfa Classic, but it has been discontinued for quite some time and is known to age fog pretty bad so i don't even look for it.
got my hands on some Kodak Ektalure and it is AMAZING. so amazing, in fact that i'm saving it for special prints.
as far as currently available papers, it's got to be Fomatone.
the facility i use is at a local community college and they are closing it after this semester.
pretty bummed.
been enrolled on and off for the better part of 20 years.
i have my own darkroom equipment, but am unable to set up at my house for a number of reasons.
as far as dropping more images, i'll try to as i have time.
digitizing them just adds another step to an already lengthy process

That's sad to hear about the college closing the darkroom, (is the whole collage closing or just the photography department) I'm sure after a couple more years any darkroom programs are going to be closed. I know my city's university still has one but it's for students only, there is a community darkroom as well but the hours don't allow me to ever go.
Not to be rude but what has allowed you to stay at the same community darkroom for over 20 years, genuinely interested. Also where do you get your paper from? Are you in America?

>Are you in America?
"Community college" is a thing that only exists in America.
Also, Beseler enlargers are American too.
>>3047590
I assumed but never know, we have community colleges and beselers in Canada.

That is a shame medium format prints are pretty sweet, the meopta is tiny though. What's your set up look like, are you in a bathroom or closet?

It's a very small storage space, just enough space for one small desk with an enlarger on it. Other spaces in my apartment are not really available, except the attic, but you can't walk there (you'd fall through the floor as it's just ceiling drywall plates). I want to install a decent floor there this summer so I can make a full fledged laboratory sized darkroom, but for now I only have this small space. I'd love to do 35mm, MF and LF in b/w and colour once everything is finished.

i have been enrolled as an advanced student/independent study in that class only.
the college is cutting film photography altogether.
yes, in US.
have bought paper from B&H and Freestyle in the past.
but honestly, with so many people getting out of "real" photography; i peruse craigslist, yard sales, etc.
i have been given so much paper (and photo stuff in general) in the past five years that i don't even know what to do with all of it. lol.
>i have been given so much paper (and photo stuff in general) in the past five years...
and here is a great example of that.
i'll post some pics of the lab tonight
didn't have any time for new art images today

Yes, that's what I said.
here is the lab
