The whole point of the trip was that I wanted to get away from people and see lots of big open desert and clear skies. I guess it shows in the pictures.

Something like this, or is this starting to look too overcooked? I was there in the middle of the day which was good for getting the stark blinding white look but not good for showing texture in the sand, I have to tweak the curves and stuff a lot to even get this much to show. I would love to go back to that park eventually and spend more time and also be there for a sunrise or sunset, it was a pretty incredible place. The hike up and down sand dunes in the middle of the day really kicked my ass so I didn't really spend as much time as I had hoped.

I took that same trip, San Antonio to Phoenix. White Sands would've been better if you visited in the early morning or late afternoon so you could actually have interesting details in the sand, mid day isn't so good.

I stopped by this spot too. It was by far the quietest place I have ever visited, I couldn't hear a single thing parked on the side of the road.
As for the quality of the photos, I think you couldve done better. This one is my favorite

Yes. Mostly pretty simple stuff, exposure and white balance adjustments and some curves. Also a lot of dodging and burning and sometimes I'll add some local white balance shifts to get nice saturated blue skies and stuff like that. I try to keep it natural looking, I hate overcooked photos.
