Hey /p/... I'm planning to upgrade soon and I'm leaning towards the D750. I'd like to discuss the D750 vs D500 vs D810.
I primarily shoot nightlife/clubs/raves/concerts (event photograhy). However, I do a lot of portrait work as well, mainly for press kits and that kind of thing.
Suggestions?
TLDR; D750 vs D500 VS D810
The D500 is a specialty camera. Unless you shoot sports or wildlife, it's probably not what you're looking for.
Ask yourself if the features on the D810 justify the price difference, for what you need. Honestly all three make excellent images.
Well the D750 isn't that much of an upgrade from the D600 which you can now get for triple figures.
The D500 is crop sensor - and, lets face it, who the fuck still buys that. Image quality just suffers.
So I would probably recommend either saving for the D810 or simply buying a D610 - the D600s big brother with a better mirror configuration.

I've read a ton of comparison articles and most of them choose the D750. I'm upgrading from a D7200, so regardless of which camera I choose, it'll be a MAJOR upgrade from what I'm currently shooting with.
I don't see reason to choose the D810 over the D750. The difference in the price for a few "minor" upgrades doesn't seem worth it to me.
Thoughts?

if you're upgrading from D7200, I would suggest even a D800/D800e or D500.

For which reasons?

D750 gives some of the best low light performance Nikon has to offer aside from the D5. Cop that if you can.
D610 would be my next choice.
D800 series files are massive and the camera itself is not as good in low light as the others mentioned. Don't get me wrong, it's still good being full frame and all, but the 750 edges it out a bit.
Unless you're printing big or want really good dynamic range and color depth at base ISOs the 750 is a more rounded camera for your needs IMO.

That's the biggest reason I'm leaning towards the D750. The low-light performance. Since I mostly do event work, in low lit clubs etc...

Buying jewcon cameras.
Why not upgrade to Sony master race. Sony A7s the top tier master race for low light.

I'd rather not repurchase all of my accessories and everything else.

>Jewcon
Nikon doesn't have a C in it m8
Try harder

D750 and a7s are actually identical up to about 6400 ISO.
Also stop saying master race in any context, you're a grown up now.

I'd say go for the d750 because of file size, bigger than 24mp is unnecessary for 95% of people and are a slog to work with.

Get the D750, put that 1k into a good len. D610 is nice but the auto is only EV -1, which will suffer a bit under some extreme low light condition.

I heard a lot of complaints about reliability of D750
D500 is still new, so you might want to wait a bit to see what comes up

reliability? go on...

Not that guy, but I've also seen lots of threads on dpreview lately about it. Shutters failing after a few thousand actuations, oil spatters, and even some completely dead cameras.
I briefly considered one but said fuck it and got a D3s instead. Maybe my hands are too small or I don't have the twiggy alien fingers it was designed for but I couldn't stand the grip on the 750 coming from a D2Hs/D300.

D810 vs D750?
>>3037968
Nightfag here, well former one.
You must be fucking stupid to take that much money into a club or concert. Either that or you are swole. Man fuck that. Unless you are press or aren't in the crowd use something cheap.

I've shot both. 810 has crazy resolution and no aa filter, plus better build. 750 is light and faster for sports and action, but not as sharp as the 810. If you shoot motion more, get the 750, otherwise get 810. Honestly, you'll probably be happy either way as they are both solid cameras.
As a d500 owner, I can't recommend this camera enough. I can't compare it to FF tho as I've never owned one.
D750 & D810 owner here, 810 is overkill for event photography, also too slow. D750 is fine for portraits and studio work as well, but lacks some of the sharpness of the 810s low base iso and higher mp count.
Overall the D750 I'd the better all round camera. Also better for video

Bullshit. While still good, the D750's high ISO performance is starting to show its age. The Canon 5DmkIII, which is an older camera than the D750, has comparable high ISO performance...

Sugar, you're a fucking moron, you've already had all your shit stolen once and you still don't have a fucking clue what insurance is.
Imagine if you had your freebie Mf rig covered on a new for old policy, you could be using a pentax 645z and 3 lens setup right now.

The 5diii is still beaten by a d700 in low light, let alone a 750
