They'll go back and fill in the numbers they missed. They forgot to do a D801 etc after that they'll add more letters and rethink their digit system to avoid catastrophe

They wont increment the highest order digit.
The D500 will become the D510. All the way until the D590, when they will advance with the D591.
Same with the D5910 and the D5991 and the D3910 and D3991.

The only problem Nickon has is the single digit series where they will have to go hexidecimal, e.g D7, D8, D9, DA, DB, DC, etc.

If it's the successor of the D810 it's more likely going to be called D820 or D850.


But yeah, Nikon's naming scheme is retarded, Canon does it much better.

Seriously, is the "aperture dial has an A setting, shutter speed dial has an A setting" design patented by someone? Why isn't it always standard on every camera that has those dials?

Granted, Nikon has lenses that don't have an aperture control. But still -- emulate it with a clickable front wheel, or something.

I'm one of those people.

The only aspect where Sony sensors beat Canon is pushing shadows. If you get the exposure right with a Canon sensor things look amazing. Besides, solid AF beats a bit of dynamic range or colour depth every time.
