Hey guys!
Thought I'd share some of my recent portraits - at the moment I am working on trying to develop my own unique "style" but its hard to stand out from others sometimes!
Please let me know what you think/what I can improve, and also please post some of your portraits also!

Love this one with the shadow. A touch of constructivism in the background. A bit surreal, oneiric. Good composition.

What has she got to do with tennis?

The glasses are ok I guess. Don't like the instagram vsco colours. Bad composition.

Cliche. Not a big fan.
Experiment with different subjects like old wrinkly men. Do something interesting with the lighting. Try street photography. Try analog. Try to make backgrounds say something about your subjects.

weird sharp halos around hand especially on the thumb at bottom. too much shoop?
theres already a portrait thread you attention hungry cock guzzler
Your unique style looks pretty generic to me, to be honest. The execution is alright but not excellent, but these photos just seem like pretty girl tumblr/instagram fodder. If you're hiring models you don't know well, then are you trying to convey any sort of message or idea by photographing them? Or if the models are people you know well, then are you trying to convey anything about their personality through the photos of them? I think having good content will make your photos stand out better than trying to push some sort of style because your style is going to have to be really exaggerated and gimmicky if style is all your photos have.

>encouraging more generals and recent photo toilets
>discouraging people from posting individual photo threads on /p/
Fuck off. If OP has a coherent set of photos to post then he's more than justified in making a thread for it.

at the end of the day style is only good if people like it, so if your photos look like generic tumblr shit then who cares as long as your clients like it and pay for it

They don't have to be good, /p/ is a forgotten backwater of a fucking japanese cartoon porn enthusiast forum not a curated gallery. As long as the photos show at least a little bit of effort and skill then I would rather see a thread about photos than yet another thread either trying to combine every single post on the whole board into a single thread or asking which Sony camera to buy to take macro photographs of your cat's anus on a budget of $1.35.

10/10
>trying to be unique
>it's hard to stand out
>Crushes blacks and whites like every other instafag out there
>Uses cliche as fuck colour styles
>Probably trying to get recognised on Instagram rather than appeal to the community around him to get work

I see that sometimes with CA removal, software trying to fix something that wasn't broken.
As ``generic'' as the post-processing is, I personally like it. It wouldn't be generic if it wasn't popular, it wouldn't be popular if a lot of people didn't like it.
I'd rather see a lot more individual photo threads than gear threads, isn't that what /p/ aspires to?
Stop thinking about your "unique style" as it's an end in itself and start thinking about what you want to tell with the pics you take.
I see three distinct looks.
The hard sun ones are interesting to me. I like shooting in gard sun and dealing with it. You did that pretty well.

>crushed blacks
Where? You don't know what crushed blacks are.

Not to kill your creativity or whatever but...
My photography teacher always told me to find a photographer that I liked and just copy them for the best results.
But who knows. Maybe when you die your stuff will be famous.
Looks good. Try and decide what you want to focus on. At the moment the bush in the background is a bit distracting. I commend the composition though. The lines of the bush are striking and the girl is front and centre. She is clearly the subject. Maybe try stopping down a bit. Get the background a but more blurry. Lighting looks good though.
As for your own style, try and fiddle around with everything. You can only gain experience. Find out what you like and then apply it to other shoots.
Other than that great shot. Keep up the good work.
