Okay so I found a yashicaflex at a used shop for 10 dollars. How available is film for this thing?
Cop or not, pic related.
Extremely available.
Odds are something is fucked with the camera tho
>>3034535
How hard would that be to get repaired?
>>3034538
It would be extremely painful.
>>3034528
For $10 get it, you can ebay it for more than that.
First check if the lens is fucked, then check if the shutter actually fires.
Then just check if the speeds seem accurate or not. Theres a chance the the higher speeds will be fine, and the lower ones will be off.
If that's the case, you've still got a working camera, you'll just have to use it in brighter conditions and use the aperture to do most of your adjustments.
Next possible issue could be that the focus needs adjusting, or light leaks but you wont know about those till you run some film through it.
I've got an old seagul TLR and as long as I shoot above 125 its fine. I like yashica glass too. I'm jealous.
>>3034688
Also, remember that B&W film has a lot of latitude, even if you speeds are a little off, there'll still be a lot of information in the negative you can get while printing.
>>3034651
For you.
>>3034688
okay cool ill go take a look at it tomorrow.
i live in japan and was more or less concerned about film availability because if its 100% broken it will still be a cool shelf piece.
>>3035099
The big camera shops sell Holgas and such. So I'm sure getting 120 shouldn't be an issue.
>>3035099
>i live in japan
Oh, it almost certainly won't work then. Second hand shops in Japan would only have that camera for sale for $10 if it was broken. otherwise they would yahoo auction that shit. Also, most certainly has mold.
>>3035209
its not a used shop really. its a camera and print shop that also has used cameras.
>>3035399
Probably broken
>>3035412
okay
>>3035399
In that case, ask them if it works or has any problems.
So the pic is related, so I must ask. Is that a photo of the actual camera? Because I see a hole in the side of it. You want to take a hood so you can look through it with the back open, and check for light leaks. If it has light leaks then all it is good for is shelf art.
>>3035603
Just Google images. I'll probably buy it despite its condition because it's only ten dollars.
>>3035830
nah its カメラのキタムラ
this place has really cheap lenses too which is cool. way cheaper than hardoff/hobbyoff
ill probably get it despite the condition and see if i cant fix it myself if its not too bad.
>>3035911
Yea, it is pretty much the same thing with a different name.
I would be SHOCKED if it isn't junk. Still, ask them what is wrong, might not be completely useless.
And yea, I picked up a 24-70mm f/4 used for $500 off new list price and it looks brand new.
>>3035911
How come none of the Kitamura Camera stores around me sell used gear? Gawd damnit.
>>3035927
Yea their deals are really good. I wish they had more stuff.
>>3035928
Probably depends on where you live. I live on the southern border of kanagawa and there's not a lot of specialty camera stores so perhaps people are forced to sell their gear to hobby off or Kitamura, where as in Tokyo you could sell it to a dedicated camera store for more.
Who knows though.
>>3036255
Okay so I bought it.
It ended up being 18$ instead of 10$
Everything seems to work fine on it and the glass looks pretty decent, just needs a good wipe on the outside. The only problem seems to be the actual body, I feel like light leaks will be prominent.
Anyone know of a good way to detect and eliminate light leaks?

shoot a roll of film with it and see if there are light leaks
>>3036365
Okay I'll do that.
>>3036338
Did you ask if it had any problems?
Man, you could've spent a bit more on yahoo auctions (¥3000) and got a perfectly working TLR.
Hope this one works out for ya.
Well I'm guessing they have to send it to a different lab because it's going to take 6 days to develop. Stand by if you have an interest in this adventure.
I ended up double exposing like 4 of the frames because I'm not used to having to advance the film independent of the shutter cocking.
>>3036828
of the camera?
>>3036815
what did you shoot? Yodobashi Camera normally develops C-41 in a day (at least for 35mm)
>>3036852
Yes, of course.

Glass seems fine though and i didn't see any light leaks when I looked at it in a blacked out room and a pen light. So I'm hoping.

If it does produce some artifacts on the film that aren't too horrible I won't be too upset.
Stick a small led light in the camera and cover the lens, shut the case. If you can see light being emitted from the outside, you have light leak.
