Is digital medium format a meme?
>>
No, why would it be?
>>
large format a meme?
>>
>>3034300
yes, just like every other idea
>>
Basically, with any good scanner (even flatbed can work) film medium format outputs a much higher resolution
>>
>>3034305
Only garbage has-beens memers like Fuji, Pentax, and hasselshit are making them.

Makes sense.

Kinda. It's cool but until recently no sensors were truly 645. Now there are some, but the quality difference isn't huge until you spend like 100k between body and lenses. Sigma Foveon will get you 2/3rd of the way there with a better colour rendition, for crop enthusiast level prices.

Resolution means jack shit. And no, not on most formats. 35mm true resolution goes somewhere around 16mp at best, 645 would be twice that, 6x7 four times that. So yeah, 6x7 would, with a great scanner. And this is all being optimistic, but again, resolution means nothing and nobody shoots film for resolution, even if 6x7 outputs better detail after very careful scanning, a digital raw will still be a better way to get there.

What world are you living in? How many award winning photographs were shot with a Fuji, ever, let alone since the DSLR revolution?

Haslelbad is just some Chinese enterprise licensing the name and Pentax hasn't been relevant since the 80s. I mean fuck, Pentax only just got into the full frame game with a complete abortion and their asp-c offerings are toys.

I think it means a lot, I do a lot of printing so it's good to have some headway size wise.
I take a lot of 6x7, 6x9 and sometimes with that argueably ok lomo camera, 6x12.
Having a good scanner means I can get a fair wack of pixels out of it, and then get a nice print.

You could print it directly from the negative and get much more resolution out of it.
