Going on holiday and thinking about getting an Rx100, is there anything else good around the price range?

An rx100 mk1? Or a mk4? There are tons of better options in the mk4's price range.
>>3032647
No sorry bad pic really. Looking for a mk1 or anything decent it that price range
Nikon DL is the god of all compact cameras. It's so good it will never came out, because mortals like us cannot have access to such divine equipment.
>>3032648
> decent
RX100 V (maybe also IV), FZ-2000 (maybe also 1000)
> not entirely horrid compacts you can get for cheap
RX100 I and II, TZ71, G 9 X, LX100
But 'decent' isn't what I'd call them.

What's wrong with them?
only acceptable answer
Best compact I've ever owned. I've done every type of photography with it. Image quality is superb, rivals APS-C in the right hands.
>>3036787
been shooting since the beginning of the year. Best camera I've ever own. Keep it in your pocket and always have a camera on you.
>>3036798
Quality of the photograph maybe but it's absurd to compare image quality with more capable camera systems.
>>3036830
It's not absurd. The image quality blows my mind. Pentax processing magic is a miracle of the universe.
>>3032646
>Going on holiday
No need to think more.
With this one you can take great shots and don't bust your balls overthinking the technical stuff!
>>3036798
which lenses do you use for it?
>>3036867
90% of the time the Standard Prime. This lens maximizes the camera's IQ potential. The rest of the time I use the super compact Telephoto Zoom.
Rx100 1 is a good choice
What are your thoughts on Nikon Coolpix P5100?
Really wanted to buy an RX100 II with my accumulated points from Yodabashi Camera in Japan.
Sony Japan cameras don't have English because fuck you filthy Gaijin.
Nikon J5 it is...
>>3038140
It's not like the language of a camera matters, it's not a computer
>>3036841
and pay $3 per picture to some Silicon Valley hipster to """enhance""" your photos and you can't even get all of your photos back. Also you have to pay like a $250 fee for using the camera. This is even more expensive than the Impossible Project meme Polaroid film.
>>3036787
What is this?
>>3039217
Olympus XA. GOAT tier compact film camera. The original XA is the only model that is a rangefinder and is aperture priority.
XA1 is a cheap ass selenium metered version.
XA2 and 3 are pretty much the same as the XA but are fully auto with zone focussing.
XA4 is a macro version and is p. rare.
They are great cameras but have become a bit of a meme so expect to pay out the nose for one on ebay. If you look in charity shops though you can pick them up cheap enough, I got my XA3 in near mint condition with a soft case for £10.
>>3039221
They've always been a meme. I paid $125 for one 9 years ago. Sold it for $150 seven months later when I got tired of it.
>>3039221
Thank you for the information :) bit sad it's film though I just creep on here for the photos to do art studies. So I was hoping it would be digital so I could just snap random pics of people to draw.
Still will now be on the lookout in charity shops. Would be nice to have something that can get me into dealing with film. Who knows, I could love it.
my fav for street

Why do Pentax Q cameras still cost over $100?
Do they plan on doing anything with them?
>>3032646
A compact 1-series Canon would be an excellent choice. Compact supertelephoto lenses are very useful.

Just get an olympus pen with a pancake lens
Just get a GR. Top notch lens, good APS-C sensor, god-tier controls. Love it for travel. You won't regret it.
I put one of those stick-on protection filters on the lens and haven't had any dust problems since. You could use the filter adapter and an actual 49mm filter but that makes the camera significantly less compact. IQ doesn't suffer at all in my experience, maybe it flares a little bit easier, but in any case it's a good compromise.
>>3036798
Cutest camera ever. I just wish they were not that expensive. For 100 € more you can get a much better mirrorless.
Want a backup digital to supplement my MF rig for travel. Want fantastic lowlight capability and preferably a zoom (while be using a fixed 35mm on my film camera). Low light performance is the #1 priority. What get?
>>3040633
PS compact means I can put it in my pocket.
Anything less than full frame is outdated by 8 years now.
You are removing about 30% of the image quality. Save up and get a real camera.
>>3040633
the LX100 has great low light capability, but you won't fit it in a jeans pocket.
>>3039552
theyre really well-built for small sensor compact of that time. original Q has a magnesium alloy body, latest QS1 has an aluminum body. accessible DSLR-like controls at a time when others made you dive into menus for manual controls. whereas a Nikon 1 looks dated as fuck with its auto-oriented babymodes, a Q is a timeless hobbyist's classic
>>3040341
>GR
It also functions as a vacuum cleaner to suck up all the dust in your room.
Anyone use a DSCRX100? Going on a few trips soon and want something to bring with me, is it any good in low light?
anyone can recommend a less than 100$ compact?
only requirement is that it possess an Aperture priority control + easy to operate Ev compensation, and that it could fit into a shirt or jeans pocket.
what do you think about buying a Minox 35 EL? i can get it for like 30 bucks

I got a Mju 1 for like one Euro but it is in pretty rough condition. I have been really liking shooting it, while the auto flash beeing on and lack of control is a bit of a letdown.
I am considering getting a XA, but would that be worth if I have a Mju 1 ?
Really want a kind of stealthy compact film camera to keep with me but can't find much that is worth it for under 50 Euros
>>3043171
I saw one for 30 in Princeton but i didn't buy it because i needed a zoom camera for travel. I may pick it up if its still there when i get back to mess around with street.
>>3043816
yeah, I want it for fun but I don't know if there are more funny cameras to try, I know it's kinda cheap but I'm on low budget
good look finding it again
The best ones are the x100
>>3043171
Not a rangefinder so you'll have to guess the focus.
Not worth 30usd imo.
GR is the best honestly. I've had mine for about a year and I use it pretty much daily.
For film I haven't found a favorite yet. I switch between an Oly XA, Mju I, Mju II, Ricoh R1 and Konica AA-35. XA I actually use the least, I don't think it's as good as people seem to think it is.
>>3040633
Canon G7X mkii
>>3043171
Completely unreliable.
The shutter can (and most likely will) fail at some point and if you don't pay close attention to the shutter sound you won't even notice it and shoot unexposed frames.
The lens is nice, but mechanically it's too fragile.
>>3036787
got one for 6 euroshekels at a fleamarket. works and everything. struggling to find time to shoot this between all the other cameras. 24h/day are not enough
