I think my sensor overheated. Video recording stopped and a thermometer icon started flashing and prevented me from recording additional footage.
Does overheated sensor cause irreparable damage, such as destroyed pixels. Is there any way to check for any damage that may have been done?

what camera do you jave

Canon EOS Rebel T2i. It's precious to me.
Make a dead pixel test but I wouldn't be worried. The auto switch off is there for a reason, to prevent damage to the camera.

I have this camera, and I've seen this happen a few times to me. A few questions.
What is the transfer rate on your memory card?
What situations does it happen in?
How long has this been happening?
It might be that the card transfer rate is just too slow. I know the t2i claims it will work with a class 10 card, but that's false. The card has to have a higher transfer rate than the bottom of the barrel class 10 cards usually have.
This issue is not from dead pixels, so don't worry about that
Well I would assume the overheating alarm goes off before the sensor actually gets hot enough to cause damage, or else it would be a pretty fucking stupid alarm. It should be fine.

cpu can also overheat, as can the card. camera has built in protections for all of these cases so you are fine dude, everybody builds their stuff like this, it's just like a computer cpu where it will thermal throttle or shut off if it reaches anywhere close to potentially harmful temperatures.
i have the same camera, seen that a couple of times while videoing, no damage done...
could be the cpu, could be the battery, or something else overheating, no worries tho...
strap a cpu cooler on the bottom of the camera and you're fine... kek
This is why plastic bodies are regarded as shit. They are thermal insulators, very bad cooling for the internal electronics.

>not getting custom copper bodies CNC machined for your t2i for a cool $8000.
Why even live?

>he doesnt water cool
thats what you get for overclocking your camera
