generals are extremely destructive to a slow board. the only reason generals even became a thing is because it became impossible to find the thread you want on high volume boards like /a/ and /v/ (and now /pol/, though that won't last long). And you know what happened when there were too many general threads on /v/ and they started clogging out all of the regular threads? moot made a new board specifically for generals.

This. Generals are completely fucking pointless on /p/ because there's so little activity. The last post on this board right now had it's last response 5 fucking days ago. If somebody makes a new thread and bumps that into oblivion that's absolutely fine.

Gear threads rarely get read beyond the first post, if the picture happens to be a Pentax, Sony or Fuji I don't even read that.

Likewise threads featuring youtube 'experts' are hidden without being read as are most threads that start with a cartoon. Plenty of other crap threads also get hidden.

It makes browsing /p/ so much nicer. If they are hidden you're not tempted to waste valuable minutes of your life replying to dull-witted twats. You should try it sometime
