$2000 for a 20MP quarter frame?
I'd rather spend $600 on ANY apsc but Canon and get a whole new level of performance.
And I even shoot MFT

Bigger sensors are less demanding on lenses, no m43 lens outresolves that sensor.
The smaller the format, the more dead it is, because sensors will keep falling in price, but good glass won't.

Yeah I've been looking into mft vs full frame a lot recently because I'm not sure which way to go for an upgrade. If you're into street stuff then it's actually pretty good but I prefer landscapes and night and food this FF still wins.
From what I can tell, the best MFT will put up a good competition but low light performance will still be shit compared to FF. Furthermore the focusing systems for current mirrorless systems any as good as the dedicated focusing circuitry for DSLRs. You also don't get as much resolution compared to FF (high resolution mode doesn't count). DSLRs are also built like a tank and have a better glass selection - especially at the wider range.
MFT is still good - you get great sharpness in a really convenient form factor with an evf but for the cost of the em1 mk2 you can get a FF and decent FF zoom lenses are about the same cost as the best MFT ones.

erm
>>3011090
>Bigger sensors are less demanding on lenses
I don't think that's true when you use a lens with an optimal image circle. (ie: mft lens on mft body or APS-C lens on APS-C body).
>>3011090
>sensors will keep falling in price, but good glass won't
A lens retaining its value is more a matter of rarity or memes like leica glow. And those lenses tend not to be very practical - for example, I've got a few meme voigtlanders, but I almost never shoot them because autofocus gets me results faster.
Canikon's pro telephotos from the 90s are still amazing optically, but no one wants them anymore since their IS/VR successors are vastly more practical. Screwmount Takumars are still great, but are routinely sold for the price of a McDonalds meal since the few people who shoot manual focus want something more interesting. Etc.
Very few lenses have actually appreciated in value when inflation is considered.

A Nikon 80-200 f/2.8 AF-D starts around $400.
AF-S goes for about $700-$1100 (depending on condition).
So clearly people still want them.
>>3011134
Pretty sure it's still considerably cheaper than when was new in the 80s, if you adjust for inflation.
>>3011137
>A Nikon 80-200 f/2.8 AF-D starts around $400.
That's like a quarter of its original price.
>So clearly people still want them.
I obviously didn't mean that as "they become literal garbage", lenses generally never reach that point unless physically damaged.
wow its been some time since I last seen an Olympus thread. Good thing you still feel relevant m43fag

Glass doesn't magically get sharper if you make it smaller, it just magnifies any flaws.
APS-C is dick compensation.

Hello there
>>3011168

It does when you use a speedbooster.

>That's like a quarter of its original price.
Which is a lot for something that's 20+ years old and in heavily used condition.

Yes the XT2 shits on the micro4turds cams.
But I need to say, that grip is fucking ugly as fuck, I have an XT1 and the grip is infinitely more aesthetic, I can attach it too my camera and it gains a grip and extra battery without becoming too bulky.
The XT2 grip of FUCKHEUGDSLRSIZE just look at it, I'm sure they added the extra finger grip thing just because the actual base is too fucking big and they couldn't make it smaller. It looks like a fucking 5D grip.
