About it for now. Nothing extraordinary but defiantly have a few personal favorites. A roll of Superia should be coming back soon so will post what's good from there along with some others.

why were they leaning on the Washington Monument like that? Was it a specific protest move? Martha Washington was pretty chill.
>>3009027
I've done it before, it's neato. During cloudy days when the monuments top half is covered with fog it looks as if you're on a path to nowhere.

Damn that kinda sucks. There were a ton of people there with film cameras (probably not MF though) so it's going to be interesting on what people get out of them.
Did you really fight in the great sign-holding wars, grandma?

Just curious, when you're taking pictures at events like these, what's the general attitude from people? Are they more willing to be photographed or what? Do they ever question you about your personal opinion on whatever they're protesting?
>>3011301
>Just curious, when you're taking pictures at events like these, what's the general attitude from people?
This was not only my first protest but photographing one too so I was unsure on how others would act intially. However it seems no matter the political spectrum there is a sort of neutrality kept between others unless you happen to confront somebody that's willing to hold a conversation about a certain topic. Example being a friend of a friend who attended with us came across a woman sporting a Canadian NA flag and asked her about a thin piece of rope or paper that she lit on fire as a song of peace(?). Their conversation lasted about 10 minutes before parting ways but she kept very cool and collected. The general atmosphere of this march may not of felt entirely safe at some points but the majority of us in the group felt unthreatened. As crazy as it sounds, the overall atmosphere wasn't as bad as others made it out to be.
>Are they more willing to be photographed or what?
Absolutely. They'll even embrace the idea of cameras being pointed at them knowing their message is getting across even if it can be deemed as bad press.
>Do they ever question you about your personal opinion on whatever they're protesting?
Not on my end but it's possible if you chant the right phrase near people who agree to a similar viewpoint so a conversation could be worked up. Whenever I'm in a situation where my political beliefs can be jeporized I'll either remain mute or propose a unbiased response. Conceiving arguements involving political aganedas just leads to a lost cause on trying to convert individuals to a party that was likely full of bull to begin with. Political discussion is defiantly important, but why bother with forcing personal opinions on others y'know?

So is that sign proTrump or antiTrump? I get the meme, I just can't tell the intent of the whole thing.
>>3011309
Thanks for the insight. Wandered into a protest the other day. I didn't even know there was one, I was just there for the Chinese New Years thing. Most of the people were standing in a circle so I only got shots of people's backs. Kind like all of my street photography, except this time they were holding up signs. It was a fun experience though.
>>3011309
wait so these are from the womens march or the inauguration day protest? The march seemed exceptionally chill from all the accounts I heard, due to planning and deals with the city to limit exposure of riot gear wearing police to minimize agitation.
>>3013341
Probably anti considering the "sad" portion of the sign may imply his Tweets are condescending.
>>3013343
It's a good takeaway experience even if you don't get many good pictures. Most of these are meh at best but for so many people and the limitations the group I was with impeded me from running off in another direction to throw myself into the more interesting action without them getting concerned.
>>3013361
This was the Women's March on Saturday after the inauguration. Sources say no arrests in the majority of the cities that protested were made and again personally the overall atmosphere of the march didn't feel all that threatening. There were barriers set up to deterrer protestors from straying away from the path of the march and security measures were made (pic related, almost certain that's DC Nat'l Guard) but from what I recall nobody was in riot gear.
Some film photos up next.

What are they marching for?
>>3013755
Because they seem to think that they have no rights, when in reality they have more than a male does. This is especially true if you are a white male. Trump scares them because he said cock-a-doody words, and that hurt them.
>>3013862
I think they're more worried over the power of executive order that President Trump and his legislation have and can carry out along with a underlying outrageous lack of self worth as women due to (legitimate) past oppression. Fact is, they have more rights than they ever have as American citizens, but anything that screams "republican" questions their future rights and day-to-day situations.

"Wage gap" which has been logically explained multiple times to not really be a thing. Rape culture. Muh abortion. That's pretty much it. Meanwhile women in Muslim countries will get thrown in jail if they report being raped unless they can find two men to testify that the rape did indeed happen.
