Hey /p I am a newfag here and have wanted to get into photography but I need a camera, what is a good entry level DSLR that I could get
Canon EOS Rebel t6 is a pretty decent starter camera.
It matters, whats your budget?

Cheapest canikon or sony with you're richfag.

Go with a sony mirrorless, the evf makes learning a lot easier and taking photos a lot more intuitive. They're also much smaller and won't make you look like a social outcast autist.

T6i if you're more into video
D5300 if you're more into photo
K-70 if you can afford around $1000
Sony a6000 if you don't mind mirrorless
That's it

Seconding this.
Did this and it was great
Get a used d700 or d800 if you're feeling rich. Getting entry level dslr's is pointless when you can get a better used one for the same or 1-200 more.
If your are really low on budget buy a older camera. I recently bought a Nikon D70 with 70-300 Tele marco lense for about 160€. Sadly the d70 has a very small display and only a CF slot.
I would recomend the d80. Should be about 100-140€ and has sd card slot and a bigger display.

>Getting entry level dslr's is pointless
Why? I won't upgrade from my D3200 anytime soon.
What's the point in spending almost 1k for a croped sensor camera?

Lul no

WAT?

Yes, viewing your picture with the simulation of its output in realtime rather than looking trough the lens is better.

what about D3400 or k-50
>>3002265
>what's live view mode in a DSLR?
>what's matrix metering?
Enjoy composing your picture in the dark with your evf anon

There is some truth to this though if you adapt old long teles, especially catadioptrics. They are so slow that you can barely see anything through an optical finder. If you're using a split prism, it'll turn into an obscuring dark blob. EVF on the other hand can adjust to show a clear enough image for focusing. It's a niche thing, but one where EVF is actually quite handy.

Pls don't follow this idiot's advice

I'd recommend a used K-S2 over a K-50, flippy out screen and improved sensor without AA filter
Just got an EOS 80D, quite an awesome piece of equipment, ideal for photography and vlogs

>what is matrix metering
It's not a conscious being that can read your mind that's for sure, and completely useless at telling if you want a silhouette shot or a high key shot.
>what's live view
Soccer mom mode, also sonys tend to have tilting screens, which make them better for soccer mom mode too.
>enjoy composing in the dark.
Will do, the evf allows me to see in practically pitch black, unlike an ovf which is almost impossible to compose or accurately focus in the dark. This one comment shows you've never used a camera with a good evf.
>>3002249
>being shown what the lens sees
>being shown what the sensor sees through the lens
>the sensor records photos, not your eye.
To help op though, on a ovf, if you change shutter speed, aperture or iso, nothing in the viewfinder changes, with an evf, the viewfinder updates with a preview of exactly how your shot will look. If you're concerned about "lag", don't be, on sony at least it comes in at around 25/1000 of a second.
And I'm sure i don't need to point out to op that I've been the only person to give a recommendation with a Set of reasons, whereas the noobs have just been recommending what body they have already.
To clear things up a bit though, the d3x00 is a shit choice, it's been purposefully gimped to not work with older autofocus lenses, the d5x00 is a better choice for the beginner, even if you have to use the previous generation. Of you either have brand new lens designs or will never buy another lens, the d3x00 may work out ok.
