Any of you experiment with stacking photos to generate synthetic long exposures? I don't like the way the clouds jitter. I know I could tweak my exposure time & intervals to get rid of some of it but not all of it.
Is there a way in software to fix it.

just interpolate between the images to smooth them out (like in animation), then add the results into your stew
dunno what software is best for that

Yes I took this photo with 12 exposures. In retrospect I could have matched up the images a little better in gimp.

And here is one of the original images. To remove cloud jitter you can selectively erase part of the layers and creatively use a combination of noise reduction and blurring. I did neither in this case since it's something I like.

op this guy's an asshole, but he's got a point. you'd do far better to leave the house and take thousands of photos with this thing than belabor a couple of low-quality images in photoshop. you need to improve your composition skills before your photos are worth polishing like this.

You lowered the noise which is useful, but I'm thinking about synthetic long exposures. (Also 12 shots is total overkill, 3 or 4 would be 95% as good at 100 iso.)
The clouds shot at the top of the thread is about 10 minutes, with moving stuff. I'm more interested in stacking where there are moving objects.
Like this?
Only his one time. I liked the result.

I like it, but the clouds still look a little weird and smeary.
sometimes the "painted" look of the clouds can be kind of neat, I like the result of my stacking attempt (in PS)

Ah, ok, I'll try startrails:

I like this too, and I tend to like the "painted" effect. But I would like to be able to make something that looks like a regular photograph, so I have the option to go for normal or painterly.
if you're looking for startrails you're way better off when there are no clouds at all...haven't found a way to get rid of them so waiting a day or two is my only solution for your problem

I'm into star trails, but I'm into flowey clouds too. I want to make synthetic long exposures during the day as well as at night.

That's the most gorgeous photo I've seen all day. Thanks anon.
