Took my first picture of the moon tonight, did a small edit to sharpen it up. I am brand new to photography. Would like to know how I can get ultra sharp all the way around. Shutter speeds slower and ISO down? Please let me know!! Also, where do I upload my raw images and share them? please lmk, I'm new here.

Thanks I guess. this was my first go at taking a moon shot and editing with photoshop. I am completely brand new to photography and Photoshop. Can anyone let me know any pointers? Also, where do I post raw images at for others to see/edit?
that's a really nice picture man

Is that from my source? if so, can you tell me how you did that? It looks absolutely amazing. I am 100% brand new to photography and photoshop. x_x
>>3000027
btw, I took my photo from a Canon Rebel EOS T6i with a 75/300 lens and a $20 tripod. (Wish I would have spent more money. But, oh well - I can worry about that later.) I took it from a parking lot at a mall and it was also -4 degrees outside.... I think I did pretty well for my first time shooting. I do appreciate constructive criticism though.
>>3000389
>how you did that
Pretty standard photo with the standard shitload of additional contrast.
Actual telescopes take the best moon photos, on clear cold nights, away from light and atmospheric pollution and distortion.
It's not a very interesting component of photography until you have a serious telescope, and then it's not really interesting either.
image related: the last one I took. Slightly overexposed (correct as standard spot metered), no editing. Pentax 1000mm/11 lens, on a tripod. But if you can find the right immovable object to cradle your lens against comfortably smooshe din a rolled up towel or shooter's bean-bag, then a tripod is totally redundant and more annoying than anything.

That photo is from my Sigma 50-500 on a 1.4X TC
Basically the same resolution of a clean 300mm on a tighter crop.
Focus on manual with zoom aid on liveview, on a tripod of course. Post process with extended whites and blacks, contrast, clarity, saturation, white balance adjusted with max saturation then toned back a little. Hope this helps, go out and take the shot again, also use AdobeRGB in camera for the deepest detail in RAW.

Those are not stars, brosky, that is noise.
With a proper exposure you shouldn't be able to see any stars near the moon because it is so bright, same reason there are no stars visible in the NASA moon landing photos Hasslebad is proud of.

f/11 at 1/200s, ISO 200. Moon is shit easy because it moves slowly and the lighting is steady. You can bracket all night if the need be, can't really fuck it up. Just pixel peep to see your focus is correct. I used a 300mm f/5.6 MC Rokkor, so 600mm equivalent with the crop factor. Also took shots with a 400mm f/6.3 Tamron and a 500mm f/8 Zenit MTO, but the Rokkor was the best of the bunch even when crop zoomed to match in post. Here's a shot with the Tamron.

The answer has already been posted in the thread a few times but they don't really say why they do what they do
Reduce ISO - you're at iso 1600 which is why your moon is so grainy. Drop it down to 100
Use f8 or f11 - this is to try to get the sharpest possible image from your lens. typically the max sharpness for lenses tends to be around f8. you were at f18 which reduces the sharpness of the image due to diffraction (google it) but also let less light in forcing you to crank up your ISO
Set your camera to live view and use the 10x zoom to make sure your focus is good and snapshit away
When you get the opportunity to shoot the moon again don't just take a photo with 1 setting - get snapshits with the full range of aperatures so you can blow it up on your screen and see the difference.

It's a little fake yeah. Should've caught the foreground shot when no clouds were covering the moon up.
>>3001594
The Moon is a bit boring on it's own after a while. Good to try and get some foreground in.
Pic related was taken on a wobbly fire escape and the moon was blurred a bit, so I shooped in an image of the Moon from the previous month.
