I've never done photography and know virtually nothing about DSLRs, but I just got given a Canon EOS 400d because my friend replaced his camera.
Is this camera still good for a beginner to use? My friend said it was ancient.
Also I saw a picture here of a huge list of things to take photos of but I didn't save it, does anyone have it?
Lastly, any tips on beginning? Not about what to take photos of but more about camera operation.

GEAR THREAD!!
It is ancient, but usable. Just forget about low-light stuff.

I use a 450d and still works pretty nice. Technology hasnt gone that far in these years, mostly low light photography and more resolution. It will work well until you need something more
I use a 400d. Ignore the gearfags, pic up a camera and shoot. You dont need all the super pricey stuff to take good pics. Most of the big names best work is shot on old/cheap cameras.
Go grab a "how to photo" book from a bookstore, read it, learn from it, throw it away and take some pics till you take something good, then take some more.

Totally usable
I just got the 450D yesterday and I'm a newbie and I think it's okay. I'm selling it tomorrow since I only bought it to turn a profit. I tool this shit image with it
