Although in my personal view, I think taking pictures of poor people to be a sort of cliche/poor taste in some ways (you know, walking into a place strewn about with garbage and carrying a camera worth more money than those people will probably see in a year) but, these are good OP.
>>2989827
Well, my pitiful income is generated at these places. I buy things from these people, and then i sell them online. Few times i even sold stuff there. I may not be as poor as most of them(they aren't homeless btw), but i am closer to them then to the first world middle class.

i think it really shows that you are "on the inside" by how close you are getting, most of the photos arent looking down on them, both literally and figuratively, and the people look relaxed.
also the quality you get out of such limited gear is really impressive.. better than most photos in the rpt, taken with 10x more expensive gear. it probably doesnt scale up particularily well, but this is a wayy better starting point than the people getting a dslr for cristmas and immediately start posting pictures of hats.
keep it up! i enjoy your instagram too.
>>2989845
Gypsies are weird, not just poor. Although i am financially not that far off, we are very different. Their culture is weird (and in my opinion bad). Still, after several years of hanging around fleamarkets i understand them much better. I don't know if that shows on the photos, probably not. I think they are somewhat respectful at least.
For example >>2989805
I like the nostalgic moment in which the old woman is holding a toy.
Unsure what your documenting / trying to convey. No clear message does nothing for me.
>>2989885
It shows people who are usually unseen and who are mostly forgotten. It is just saying that they exist.

Thank you (:
I own a (cheaper) DSLR, and i'm not new to photography at all. I wouldn't be able to photograph there the same way with a big camera.
This started very spontaneously. Now, I wish i had a better camera when i started. I bought a better used phone just for this(still a very long way from an Iphone 7 or Google Pixel).

That applies to most people accused of poverty tourism on this board full of buzzwords and no understanding of contexts.
The only actual poverty tourism I've ever seen on /p/ was that time moopco went to india to shoot poor people and berate them for not being british.

where did you take these? I want to say romania but houses look ex-soviet design.
>>2990126
These were taken near the commie block neighbourhoods of Belgrade (Serbia). Technically its not an ex-soviet design, but yeah, buildings like these are very common in ex socialist countries. Romania has them too. Contrary to popular belief, those neighboorhoods can look pretty different, ranging from truly dystopic to somewhat comfy, at least here.

N95 looks cool, has physical controls, and the best IQ back in the day, but that isn't saying much because in 2007 phone cameras were terrible. N95 has a big sensor (for phone standards), 5MP and a Zeiss branded lens, so it appears good in theory, but in practice the difference between that ancient Nokia and best phones today is HUGE.
If that's the best one you ever owned you will be pleasantly surprised when you get a new phone with a modern camera.

>>2990212
Thanks (: , I'm really flattered you think so, but i don't fully agree. Some of my photos were ruined due to bad metering, inability to set the shutter speed, bad ergonomics, slowness, terrible low light performance, and very low dynamic range. If my camera was better i would have more photos to show now.
>>2991147
> boring and cliche
So are cats, puppies, flowers, cute kids, (almost) naked ladies, fashinable people, roads, railrod tracks, piers, feet, jumping, reflections, long exposure water in a landscape, sunsets, moon... most subjects are cliche by now, but they can probably still be photographed in a way that isn't boring. I'm not saying i managed to do that though.

>not a fan of the random aspect ratios
Yeah, i don't mind when the aspect ratio of a single photo is unconventional, but it urks me a bit too when it's this inconsistent. In few instances weird aspect ratio was a choice i made before i took the shot, like >>2989892, but in most cases it's the undesired result of shooting from the hip.
>stop raising the shadows so much

When they're not at the market' they're out picking pockets or begging. Usually both at the same time.

Begging is just selling a feeling of benevolence and righteousness, if there's a market for it sOmeone will keep doing it.

Once i saw an arrest happening on this flea market. There are things that could be stolen of course, but most is definitely not. I rarely see fancy stuff.
Btw, this flea market is illegal, authorities often chase them away, sometimes for several months. Somehow they keep coming back to this place. Gypsies are the big majority, but there are also some poor(usually old) white people selling stuff
