first master manual exposure and manual focus.

>le composition maymay

when are you plebs going to learn that it's just a meaningless gimmick that contributes nothing of worth to your photo?
>>
how people do it:
>start shooting shit
>look at other pictures
>shoot some more
>realize you like to shoot one genre
>shoot more of that
>experiment with different process
>shoot some more

Maybe a better way to do it:
>read about all arts
>educate yourself about graphic design principles
>learn about how recognized photographers applied them
>learn about specific technical details in camera
>define -why- you shoot
>define what you want to shoot
>start shooting with that purpose in mind.
>practice and define your personal style
>keep yourself on touch with the world
>>

YOU are a meaningless gimmick that contributes nothing to a photo
>>

First learn the exposure triangle and the importance of stops.

Then practice, analyse, read, repeat

A good book that keeps things super simple and can be had for pennies is the 35mm photographers handbook, it explains the basics and gives examples and instructions of more advanced techniques in easy to follow sections.
>>
>>2989359
>take a lot of photos (the camera doesn't matter)
>read a lot of books, study a lot of art (not just photography)
>learn why your photos are shit
>take more photos
>they're a little better this time
>you read more books, study more art
>you think they're shit, but they're less shit than last time

>repeat until you die

welcome to photography, you will never be satisfied with any photo you take from now on. Enjoy!

>tfw you take a picture you're immensely satisfied with but aren't able to enjoy it because in the back of your skull there's this lingering worry that you are no longer a good judge of your own progress, that knife edge of self criticism having dulled, and the quality of your own work diminishing due to the perceived complacency that comes with making progress.

fulfillment is a lie

1. Find the ON switch
2. Find the button that makes a clicking sound
3. Turn the dial on the top to P
4. Go out and take hundreds of photographs
5. Review
6. Repeat 4 and 5

Everything else will come naturally as your skills develop and your inquisitiveness about what you are doing grows. You will tons of resources online that will answer every question you come up with.

A WORD OF CAUTION
1. Don't fall into obsessive gear lust. It's very easy to do but it won't help your photography grow one bit.

Sorry for not being an elitist faggot who spends thousands on a camera and uses it in Luddite mode

Nice safe space. In manual you learn how to use the fucking exposure triangle which is absolutely critical to understanding the foundational principles of photography. Getting frustrated is important because you learn a ton about your camera by problem solving, and ten times as rewarding once you figure shit out.
>Sorry for not being an elitist faggot who spends thousands on a camera and uses it in Luddite mode
Are you implying that you need an expensive camera to shoot well in manual? Holy shit, spotted the auto-babby that relies on gearfagging to produce halfway decent work. I bet you shill for sony.
>>
>>2992719
Nope. Dynamic compositions make a big difference in how powerful an image is. If all your shit is centered, eye level, too far away or full of distractions you're gonna have problems m8.

>Are you implying that you need an expensive camera to shoot well in manual?

Quite the opposite in fact.

Your uncontrolled fury is much more impressive than your comprehension skills. Keep up the good work.
