hey guys ,
I haven't seen a appropriate thread so I'm gonna make a new one.
if it dose belonge somewhere else feel free to redirect me.
first of , this is a serious thread, no joke.
I want to take sexy pictures of my gf and would like to use this and nail the jav porn aesthetic but I'm open to other styles as well.
I usually don't really shot people so I tried to look at stuff I like and thought about the technical aspects.
I shoot a fuji x20 and would shoot it as wide as possible while genereally going for close ups to emphasise roundness and mass.
I think many of those jav guys use ring flashes.
I never worked with one , are they essentail ?
if not do you think the built in flash would suffice

You need more lights to get the JAV cover aesthetics.
But they often also use ring effects in the eyes of their models, yes.
I'd suggest doing that with a ring diffuser with a portable flash inside, the related diffusers are like $20-30 shipped from China. A bit cumbersome, yes, but unlike cheap ring flashes you get sufficient light output.
For an actually powerful ring flash, you'll have to shell out more dough.
>>2988721
great, thanks for the input
>>2988714
JAV porn aesthetics is more like VHS or cheap miniDV camcorder aesthetics. I think you want more in the lines of Gravure style photos. Like the other anon said, you want multiple diffuse lights.
>>2988714
You need to use a wide angle lens, get really close and generally ignore everything you know about composition, exposure etc.
>>2988714
>jav
Start with getting better taste for one
I used to shoot a lot of cosplay, and cribbed a lot from JAV, gravure, and Asian fashion-style photography since cosplayers tend to like the look.
It's actually relatively simple to shoot, there's less lighting than people expect. The real goal is just to have very flat and soft light, and I found the easiest way to do that was just to have two decent-sized softboxes and set both lights to the same power level. You can also do it with one close box for certain shots too. For daylight shots you can even just shoot against a backlight with fill flash and expose a bit hot.
Shooting wide and close as >>2988837 said often helps, and getting above your subject and shooting down onto them also suits the look pretty well.
Here's a random one I grabbed out of my old stuff, this was a few years ago but IIRC it was a speedlight in a single 24" softbox, "flown" overhead on a C-stand with a boom.

you're gonna have to tell us who this is
>>2988837
This isn't everything. >>2988858 has some good advice but depth of field is also a huge part in that style. Usually things are shot fairly wide open. The OP image itself is 50/F4. Enough to keep most in focus but separate the background enough. Bokeh is king to the outdoor scene so prepared to pick a more portrait/tele focal length and back up.
>>2988878
I'll tell you how to use gris you casual fucking baby.

What in the fuck do you think I am? I'm not your fucking nanny, boy.
Do your own fucking legwork. It takes less time to find the source than it does to reply to a post.

Look around some JAV videos. A few of them will actually show their equipment setups.
This look is so flat and boring to me. Gimme some Araki or Aizawa Yoshikazu over this any day!
>>2988714
high resolution and yet, devoid of any detail
how do people do this? more importantly, why
>>2989049
flat light. softening mask
Because girls are actually icky
nice thread, interested in getting that JAV / idol look too
>>2988721
this, they use a lot of ring flash. it really lit up the whole face evenly.
>>2988714
god damn I would knock the bottom out of that bitch
>>2988858
>was just to have two decent-sized softboxes and set both lights to the same power level.
A school photographer friend of ! mine calls that the river police look. you have the cops on both side shining lights on you... But he is 64 years so I'll forgive him.
>>2988714
why would you want to shoot peanut sensor wide no dr camera like the nips?
>>2989298
Heh.
You know, though, that's not the worst analogy. The "deer in the headlights" look goes over really well with otaku types. My ex (girl in the pic you quoted) actually used to cultivate it on purpose.
>>2989281
She'd spray you and you'd go on a registry
>>2989281
>tfw been worrying that I've been turning more and more into Sugar this year
>see this post
I can relax a bit and start making fun of you again. Thanks Sug.
What if you get hard while shooting some JAV or gravure idol and she notices it?
>>2989425
Worth it.
>>2989574
If you can get hard in 1/1000th of a second, maybe you should be the star and not her!

Shooting JAV can take a lot of time.
