The scene is very pleasing, but you waste too much space on the sky. I would have gotten closer to the water for a tighter shot of it and the far bank.

You can get a good, relatively inexpensive 50mm which is leaps and bounds ahead of the standard kit lenses

Thanks for the feedback. Looking at a lot of my photos now I can see that the sky fills up almost 50% of my landscape shots... I'll try to keep this in mind when I head out again.

Also been thinking of picking up a nikon 50mm 1.8g for a while now, so I might hop to it pretty soon.

that lens is great for the price. bear in mind on a cropped sensor camera it will have a relatively tight shot so landscapes will be tricky.
