My x70 has this dreadful function built it.
I suppose it does have a few legitimate uses but 99.9% of the time it's a shitty crutch for shitty photographers. Don't rely on it to make a boring photo interesting.
These two are obviously not examples of "doing it right."

not that this technique is never useful but it is rare to actually have a photo well composed with this effect.. because the former makes the latter obsolete.
