I could really use some help, I'm extremely into photography, and all I have is a Fujifilm Finepix S4000. I was wondering if this is an adequate DSLR or if I should consider getting a new one.
Pic related: One of the shots I've taken with it.

Looks like your camera is fine, the only real thing I see that's bad with it is the jagged edges of long distance things which can always be fixed through computer programs!

Thank you, what computer program would be useful for something like that? I have photoshop.

Photoshop should be good! I don't remember the exact settings that smooth edges but I know it's in there somewhere.

If you are EXTREMELY into photography, that camera really isn't adequate. Also, Fujifilm Finepix S4000 is not a DSLR. Sure you can make good shots with that one too, but it will be much harder to make a good portrait for example with the camera you have, then with one that has a bigger sensor.
Getting a DSLR or a mirrorless body isn't so expensive nowdays. You can buy used gear if you are low on cash.
You should also learn about post processing, that's as important as your camera.

Photoshop can't fix that, sorry. It looks like not capturing enough detail or something, the whole thing looks painted like a shit phone camera. I'm guessing the sensor is just shit.

This.
I'd recommend mirrorless if you have a tighter budget cause you can adapt a huge variety of manual lenses.

The image you posted is less then 4 real megapixels, that is not very much.
