Processing is really not to my taste, and you could do a lot better with the crops - way too much empty space.

I like the way some were shot though, the flare actually works on a few, and the expressions etc are mostly good, once you sort out the exposure, colours and contrast.

Last one is underexposed but has great warmth.

Maybe add a little light from the front (front left - front right would be better) with a strobe.

Your gear (lens especially) appears to be horrid so yea, maybe don't take money for this.

Since it is horrid, make sure you shield it from the sun with a lens hood (improvised might be fine), else you get flaring like seen in most of these shots.

And maybe try to shoot this location at the right time of day. I'm sure there is another location (perhaps a place where sunlight bounces off a white wall so you don't need the sun in sight?) where you can shoot better during the day.

Until you do, try to avoid the weaknesses of your setup a bit consciously.

It's certainly the case that you can get better shots than these if you do that.

Not really. 50mm can work quite well already, and a 85mm is an extremely typical portrait lens.

Darktable and Rawtherapee can work.

Corel's AfterShot also is pretty cheap.

LR might be a pretty poor option, it's a relatively slow piece of software even on a faster machine, I don't want to think how it'll perform on a slow machine.
