Thanks for the feedback. I could crop a tiny bit off the bottom I guess. I'd rather do something about the arguably terribly dull sky, but I haven't found a crop that really works yet.
That last picture is Superia X-tra 400 in a Pen e.e.3 half frame. 90% of all 135 is the same film. MF is a mix between Portra 400 and Fuji 160NS.

Overall I think street is not your strong suit, so work on that. Your landscapes and adventure shots are getting better for sure. I'm not sure what it is about your photos but I feel like you could pull more quality out of the scans, what are you scanning with?

That's me in the corner, yeah.

I did the ryokan one with only a minor perspective correction, with no crop and no dodging the clock, that I feel work better actually. Thoughts?

As I said just above, I scan all my stuff on a lab scanner, unless I need the extra IQ for something. I have access to a Nikon 9000, but it would have taken me over 6 full days to scan just this batch, as opposed to the 2 hours it took me on the lab scanner. Just not worth it in most cases.

I don't post photos much elsewhere, and usually not in higher resolutions, just on my tumblr and IG sometimes. Most of these pictures aren't scanned in very high resolution in the first place, I just use a lab scanner for most photos, and rescan the ones I need as I do.

I understand not everyone is that keen to see pics of my friends apart from me (after all I took all these first and foremost to document the trip for me and them), but I'm glad you enjoyed some of the others. We did actually go to the bamboo forest at sunrise, both out of logistical concerns, to get nice light, and to avoid the masses of tourists at what is one of the major toursit attractions in all of Japan.

I agree that the picture could be cropped a bit. I'll play around with it a bit and see how I feel, but I think I'll keep more of he bottom than you did. Maybe it would work with your square composition only moved down sligthly.
