when you're horny
Everytime. You should always drag them fully to the right. More is always better.

Have you guys ever reduced clarity on purpose? I did it on this shot in an attempt to make it more "painterly" but it's very rarely something you think to do.

i dont like the effect it produces when used globally, but i sometimes use it on a brush to smooth skintones
I often reduce vibrance by a good amount and up the saturation a bit to compensate for the desaturated look, that helps to blend different white points of different light sources in the image a bit

White balance is off, looks a little green and the cat's a little blue. If anything the cat should be a little yellow so I'd ref the cat's white fur for white balance and start pushing it toward yellow until it's good.

Thx for great feedback. I boosted sharpness and contrast too since I found it a bit lacking, plus added some vignetting for artistic effect. Thoughts?

The vignetting hides the color and you want as much of that as possible so that's no good.
Maybe a tad more magenta.

If you told some non-photo normies you made this in paint I think at least 50% of them would believe you.

That is a terrible, terrible, terrible idea. I can 100% guarantee that your skin tones look like complete dog shit if you're doing that.
Lr is a fine program, but it's not really useful for skin clean up. You can use the spot brush to do away with large, obvious blemishes, and you can fix colors, but actual skin clean up is a job for Ps.

When you wish to change clarity, vibrance and saturation?
If i boost contrast I'll normally raise vib and drop sat to rebalance the image, occasionally I'll drop vib and raise sat. Depends what you want from an image, i could explain what each does but it's easier to just experiment.
Clarity slider, occasionally I'll add or drop this on a grad filter on a sky, looks real janky real fast though. Had some good results using it on water and fire

What the fuck are you guys doing
Tbh, I don't really know the difference between vibrance and saturation.
They both seem to increase colour.
>>2961251
Saturation raises saturation values equally across the board for all colors. Vibrance is Adobe's secret sauce saturation algorithm that only affects certain colors.
They're both garbage. The real answer in this thread is that if you even touch any of these sliders, ESPECIALLY clarity, you're doing it way, way wrong.
>>2961251
Here's a gradient from 0 to 100 saturation. Top bar is unaffected, then 100 vibrancy, then 100 saturation.
Vibrancy boosts the saturation of colors with a medium level of saturation most, and colors with a high or very low level of saturation least.
(Normal) Saturation just raises or lowers the maximum value so that colors with a saturation level of 50 up to 100 become 100% saturated.
It's like the saturation version of raising brightness with curves by dragging up the mids VS clipping out the highlights.
>>2961256
>The real answer in this thread is that if you even touch any of these sliders, ESPECIALLY clarity, you're doing it way, way wrong.
Yes because Adobe just adds random sliders with no actual use or purpose, which their users should completely ignore otherwise they'd be doing something wrong according to an anon on a Vietnamese wood carving forum. Right.
>>2961263
They put them in there for retards who want to make their pet portraits pop. You should be using the HSL pane if you're serious about color work.

Yes, but that doesn't make using them wrong.
>You should be using the HSL pane if you're serious about color work.
Well retards making their pet portraits pop aren't going to be too serious about colour work, are they? If it's quick and works for them, then so be it.
Not everyone is an elitist like yourself, anon. Some people enjoy photography simply as a hobby and take photos for themselves. That's why you have the option to use a wide array of sliders if you're more serious about your work, or the quick and easy option for those who really aren't worried.

Ah, the idiots frequency separation.
Please, don't do this.
