As soon as he uses it he comes a photographer.

Confirmed.
Back in my pro days people asked me the same thing and I would say I'm only a pro when there's money or services (you scratch my back I'll scratch yours) being exchanged.
How about this. Everyone who has been on /p/ more than 5 minutes knows I'm a truck driver. I'm a professional driver when I'm on the road, working on the clock and getting paid by the mile or by the load these days.
When I'm in my personal vehicle I'm not getting paid.

guy with a professional camera = photographer != professional photographer
Thing to realize is that most professional photographers are workers whose tool is a camera (and postproc tools on a computer perhaps, if they've got ambition or if it's expected). Just being "pro" only means you've done it for cash or cash-equivalents. Many, many pros shoot auto, or live view on a DSLR.
Many hobbyists past the gear-wanking stage will be more technically adept than professionals. Yet more still could never make it in any sort of professional photography context -- being willing to take orders wrt methods and content being a major sticking point. This applies to most things that've got a divide between hobbyist and professional, by the way.

There's no such thing as a professional photographer.
The word you're thinking of is "commercial".
>>2958092
So a photographer who sells his prints in an art gallery is a "commercial" photographer?
>>2958093
No, he's a fine art photographer.
>>2958094
Yet his profession is still photography.
>>2958096
Art is not a profession.
>>2958097
Youre fucking dense.
I've never met a pro photographer that talked much about their gear. So I'm gunna say thats the difference.

lmoa

A photographer puts the camera on the manual mode.
A guy with a professional camera will use the green auto mode.
>>2958125
A photographer takes photographs, the very best he can do is document.
An artist uses his mind and hands to create something new. But he can still use a camera for that.
>>2958127
not really, p has its uses
>>2957997
One is running a small business and earning money. In consequence, he is maybe taking more photographs.
Otherwise nothing really.
Where a professional photographer has a bad day, he'll photograph too. Also, a pro photographer is often contracted to deliver (even bad) shots.
Sad world.. Besides many terrific go-pro-reasons.

One of them has a decent job with decent pay and takes pictures for themself.

What seperates a guy with a pen from an artist?
>>2958501
