These are some excellent shots and short of using a jib, boom, or crane, you wont really be able to get really creative and imaginative shots without being a disruptive element to the show. I've noticed a lot of the second curtain flash photos here as an example of a way to break stuff up and get more creative with it, and I think that works

For the first set that's a pretty small venue so there's not really as much latitude for where you can go and what's lit from what direction

It is focus-stacked, sort of. What Anon probably noticed is that I have two distinct zones of focus in that shot, one at infinity, one up close in the sand. There's some focus falloff towards the middle between the two.

Not really focus stacked in the way most people use the term though, it's more of a split diopter effect, created from two jpegs and blending.

isi is, amusingly, an illustration of why men dominate every field and the distinct difference in the way men and women "understand" subjects. She does nothing but apply heuristics without actually understanding the underlying mechanisms at play. For sure she can give you a rote explanation from a textbook, but that's not understanding. This is why her photographs have always and will always range from meh to good, but never touch on being interesting. Now, she generally is competent and following the idea that there's no such thing as originality, she's ripping off the Beethovens instead of the Green Days which lends an air of sophistication, but that is just a sheet thrown over the elephant of the fact that her work is banal at best and only in well-worn ways. It's on the level of thinking you're a food expert because you only ever eat cheeseburgers from Fuddruckers and never ever Mcdonalds.
