It isn't the only shot I got that night. I really liked the still glassy look the water was giving as well as the lights I saw in the trees and around the park. That's why the focus was set for the tree. I wasn't sure how I should edit it, so I just just dicked around on photoshop for a few minutes.

1) It's not bad, definitely a nice looking entrance but it's not a terribly good photo, it suffers from the old "interesting subject, boring execution" problem.The entrance might have been an eyecatcher where you were but by itself it's just mildly interesting. And all praise goes to the people who designed and built the entrance, not a lackluster documentation of the final product. Also the shingles at the top appear to be lacking sharpness.
2) This might work in B&W. I can only imaging you wanted to show the stair like pattern from that perspective and B&W is very effective in highlighting patterns and shapes.
If that's not what you wanted to show idk what else could be interesting about it.
3) I like the motive, this photo would benefit from a different perspective. Show the trees in a way a passerby would not see them. Do you like the 1-2-3 layout of the trees? If so add some more "system", maybe by incorporating the reflection more and splitting the picture in the reflection. Alternatively go down low, make the thin but tall trunks more pronounced.

Not the guy you're replying to but good lord kid, get your head out of your ass and understand that you took some crap photos and move on, you're not going to convince anybody here that they have some deep aesthetic only you can understand.
Not to mention the photo you pointed out as an example of good composition has absolutely terrible composition, your eye sees the white space in the middle and wants to travel upwards towards the opening but there's nothing so you explore the image only to see blurry leaves and white coming out of the side that ruins the framing you believed this photo had and all your left with is a tiny blurry car at the bottom.
90% of the photo is visual clutter with nothing to look at with the remaining 10% just being a car under some leaves. It's shit.
If you want to be taken seriously please understand big words like "composition" before you use them and get a cheap second-hand rebel so your photos dont look like you smudged up your lens with a glue stick before you took them.
You can be a baby and defend your "work" till the end of days but all you'll be doing is convincing yourself that everybody's just a meanie poopoo face and you'll never improve or grow as a person or artist.
I could go on but I'm not shitting up this thread any further, you have a choice to make and I hope you know which is the right one.

I just see myself, the sky looks like vomit. Generally I have a hard time to capture fog and on this hdr was the only option to make the light-scene halfway pleasing.

I am happy about a good rating, but I must also believe in it. Probably or lets say certainly, here are many of my opinion, the photo is nothing special. Actually, with the post I wanted to hear the harsh /p/.
The contest is often less about great appearance, rather, a statement about the given topic is sought and assessed. Previously the topic was about to express emotion.
In case of bridges one can also think of symbolic bridges, some kind of a connection.
The story of my photo consists of a duck that is not even related to the bridge. On top of that, I am unhappy with my mist shots in general. If someone improves me there, I'm glad. And here I have seen many great pictures of fog and mist.
