It might just be my monitor but they all seem a bit dull and underexposed.

I would play with the post production a bit more and try and emphasise the colours a bit more.

I think it's the fact that iceland being such an incredible place, people think that no matter where they point their camera there will be a good shot. So instead of taking the time to scout for the right composition and wait for the good light, they get lazy thinking it will be "good enough".

Yes, the first one is overexposed and beyond saving, sadly. The lights suddenly got very strong and a minute later it clouded up completely. so this is the most visible shot I got.

Weather sucked, it was rainy/windy/clouded in 9 of 10 days. We had a campervan, no 4x4 so we were basically stuck to the circle road plus some sideroads. timeplan was tight too, so no random explorations, which bugged me the most.
The Plane crash site is only accessible by foot, you have to walk like 4kms till you reach it.

Anyway, I'm really interested to see some of your pictures from Iceland, would you post some?

Iceland is actually a very difficult place to photograph. To get to anywhere different, ie away from the popular sites that are close to the main ring road that every man and his dog shoots, you need to get a considerable distance outside your comfort zone.

You need a sturdy pair of boots, a good tent and a warm sleeping bag. A set of dry clothes kept in a plastic bag which you save for sleeping in. All your other clothes are going to be wet most of the time. You'll need to get used to the idea that you will be eating mostly dried noodles with the occasional mind bogglingly expensive hot dog or hamburger. You will have plenty of room for packets of dried noodles because you don't need too many clothes. The more clothes you take the more wet, thus heavy, clothes you have to carry.

There are places that have hot springs which you can bathe in and some of them are even hot enough to make tea but such luxuries are few. Most of the time you wake up shivering and your only option for bathing is dipping your nuts in water that is barely above freezing point. after a while you start to smell quite feral

But it's an incredible landscape. I wen't on two separate occasions for a month each when I was a young man.

The dead sheep is great, although it'd be hard to tell what it was without the horns showing, considering how rotted it is. What isn't great though is the disgusting vignetting that people don't fix with their astro shots. Fix this and you've got a nice shot.

Like I said, I got extremely lucky with weather compared to most threads I see. I also went in late June (statistically the most sun / least rain time of year)

I went clockwise, Keflavik straight up to Stykkisholmur, up and over the Trollskagi Peninsula, then over to Myvatn, Husavik, Dettifoss, Sedisfjordur, down to the dirt section of the ring road, to Vik, then back through the golden circle. Took 12 days to do.
