i think these two are amazing. even alex struggles with panos sometimes and yet here you did two cool compositions in a wide space, i think you have an eye for that, i can see people paying prints. you should do lots more of that and less of the boring centered object ones. you and your iphone are shining here, the fool frame photos are almost all of no interest, sad but true.

your files are too compressed, you have 1000px 71kb pics, thats insane. shadows look all corrupted, tones look muddy. aim for a 700-800kb minimum.

Yes unfortunately the weather was pretty consistently awful the whole. Soft light was nice but being cold and wet to the core for 2 weeks solid was not. And I'm not sure I know the power station you speak of. Shortly after passing this spot I passed Myvatn and there was an interesting power plant-like area there. Unreasonably blue water. Didn't happen to spot for photos though, this was toward the end of the drive and I was feeling the most dead I ever had. I'm sure I'll forever regret not making more stops like that but I'll just have to go back again soon

I'm 18, which isn't old enough to rent a car from a regular rental agency in Iceland. I was pretty dead set on going though so I found a loophole which happened to also be more cost efficient than a regular agency. It was through a site called carrenters dot is. It's a service that connects you to locals who have extra cars they're willing to rent out. My rental was a 1996 Nissan Terrano TDI, it was big enough to sleep in and had 4WD hi and low for ice/challenging passes. The first day of the drip the car died on me just outside of the city. I called the owner and he happened to have another one waiting for me. That one ran fine until I got to the far north, when it wouldn't start and began spewing diesel from the exhaust. He again paid for the repair, cool guy. I had also rented a sleeping pad and sleeping bag from a camping gear rental company. This definitely wasn't enough for sleeping in the car for 2 weeks.

It seemed to storm every single night, I don't think there was a night I got more than 4 hours of sleep.
If I could recommend one thing it'd be to not skimp on things like this. It's an expensive country to visit but it would have been worth it in the long run to rent a "real" rental car and to book some hostels/bnbs. Also to not go alone. being as young as I am and not really speaking to or interacting with anyone at all for 2 weeks was rather strange and not super comfy.
In regards to black ice/etc, I didn't encounter any while there. I had read October was a good time to go because it's cheaper and weather isn't totally compromised. Weather was actually shit but never really got below freezing. No snow or ice beside on the tips of some faraway hills. Just lots and lots of rain and wind.

Thrifty was the cheapest option when I went, and they are super close to the airport (but pick you up when you arrive anyway). Just document the scrapes and damage to the car before you leave the lot (like you always should).

The fairly recent volcanic eruption has some walkable path created. It's a mini hike which leads to the caldera, and then to another explosion area. Kind of cool, lots of black black rock.
