The most shots I've taken with the pretzel are film and I'm going to muh darkroom tonight. Ill scan em and post some whenever that's done.
The Df is great, killer in low light. The only change I'd beg for is another function button that you can assign ISO changing to without using the dial. Although most situations I thnk about what my ISO should be before I"m even shooting anyways.

It's a nice lens. Cheap and it does a decent job. But I do very little macro so I don't really yearn for anything more.
Old pic, I've since added the Rokinon 12mm. The lenses in the pic are the 23 1.4, 56 1.2, and 50-230. (Which I got for free and is surprisingly decent.)
>>2940689
Obviously different person here, but I've got a ton of "chunky DSLR" experience (shot FF Nikon before switching to Fuji, had a D3S and D610), and I'm loving how small, light, and "direct" the XP2 is. It can do 95% of what my DSLRs could, too, I've even shot auto racing with it.
Amusingly enough, the ISO dial is probably my biggest complaint about the XP2, just as with your Df. The inset dial thing was a dumb idea and only worked on film cameras because you'd only change it once per roll at most, and just ends up being a pain in the ass. I never used auto ISO on my DSLRs, but I find myself doing it a lot on the XP2 just because it's annoying to change manually.

Set it to A, bind the top Fn button to auto iso settings, and then use the presets to save your preferred isos or ranges (it can save 800-800, 1600-1600, 12800-12800, or 800-12800, 1600-3200, etc, 3 optional ranges)
If you tend to use certain ranges its easy to just make 3 every-day presets and go with that. You can always change them quickly if needed through the same menu.
>>2940910
Yeah, I know about doing that, but haven't really needed to. Once I get over 800, I'm generally in a situation where I want to set and leave my ISO at something specific, so the default 100-800 auto range is the only one I really need.
>>2940921
That's why I'm suggesting it.
Preset 1) 100-800
Preset 2) 3200 or whatever
Preset 3) 12800
The same range can be the minimum and maximum for a iso preset, making it more or less a fn button iso situation like the other Fujis
>Nikon owners
Man, I couldn't imagine owning a Nikon. Sony and Canon are one thing, but Nikons are just disgusting.
>>2940923
Yeah, I get you there. What I mean is that unlike the 100-800 range, where I'll be changing ISO constantly (Out shooting in the day time and going from sunlight to shade, for example), once I'm up at 1600+ I'm generally going to leave it there for a while, and so I can deal with the ISO wheel for that.
One thing that I've found really helps, by the way, is forgetting about the little tiny ISO window on the dial and just adjusting it while looking at the viewfinder/LCD. It's still kind of fiddly but it makes it more palatable.

>Horses for courses I suppose.
ISO dials are just nicer in theory than practice. It's a variable that either changes seldomly (in which case the method of changing it matters very little) or often (in which case the xpro2's vintage style lift-and-turn dial is just clunky)
The way the ISO dial on the XT1/2 works is quite different and less to fiddle with, but there's no room for such a dial on the Xpro2 without ruining the aesthetic

>How much do you enjoy it compared to a chunky DSLR if you've shot on one.
I was a heavy 5D user - had a 5D and still have a 5D2; the Mk II only leaves the dry cabinet for paid work these days - or for using tilt shift lenses, and honestly the XP2 gets used for more paid jobs than it does these days. I got an X Pro 1 when they came out as a "smaller" camera system - I know it wasn't small - but while it was quirky and needed workarounds or vast reserves of patience, the XP2 is precisely what I hoped the XP1 would be. Compared to those, I have no regrets for taking the Fuji instead of the Canon.
It's not an apples to apples comparison to faster DSLRs, mind you.

They're reliable as fuck, hard to break, decentish on battery life, and they work of the wireless transmitter with monotonous precision; as for price vs performance compared to third party flashes... the biggest thing that separates them is the confidence to know it will fire every time - if you don't need to worry about the odd missed shot, I'm not sure they're worth the extra. I don't mind paying for reliability though.

It's up there in the top 5 imo. I've had it for around a year now and it's working as good as it did straight out of the box. Folds up even smaller than what's shown in that picture, and is still nice and sturdy at full extension.
The only complaint I have is with the ballhead that came with it, it's real basic with no tension knob or bubble levels, but you can just buy heads separately if you need.
>>2943289

A prime will always be sharper than a zoom. With that said it was the sharpest standard zoom Pentax had before the 16-85 was introduced. As much as I want to have a 16-85 looking at the images on flickr I just can't justify the extra costs for such marginal increase in IQ.
Also comparing it to the 35/2.8 macro, the lens that is allegedly the best lens made for Pentax ever might be spoiling you.
At f/4, wide open the 16-45 can be a little soft in the fine details, but once you stop down to f/5.6 the fine details come out, well, fine. It is an excellent lens especially at the wide end, 16-28mm where I use it the most. The only thing that frustrates me other than no WR is the extending barrel at the wide end, casting shadow from the on-board flash so inside shots with my dinky flash are a no-go.

This just came up in PF, not my own photo. 16-45 at f/11, Samsung rebrand. This is an excellent image, especially from a lens that is almost as cheap as a basic 18-55 kit lens.
Maybe something is wrong with yours, dislocated element or hazing or something

decentering is super common with that lens due to bad quality control. even if it's a great lens there's a high likelihood of getting a bad sample.
>>2945963
Not more common than any other lens including Canon, Nikon, Tamron, Sigma etc...
>>2945965
It on that lens in particular, not all of Pentax. Just Google it.
What lenses should I get? Just bought a Canon dslr with a kit lens. I've also bought a 50mm f/1.8 lens because some youtube video said i should - any other recommendations?
>pic unrelated
>>2945988
You should be set with both of those lenses. Either use what you have for a while until you wish you could do something that you can't. Maybe it won't even be another lens you want next, but a tripod.
The salesperson answer is a 55-200 or w/e zoom.
>>2945974
Googling the issue only comes up with a couple of forum discussions, hardly something I would call a common issue with the lens.
I say this is only a figment of your imagination right out of your ass you are trying to pass as fact.
Half (or more) of /p/ only buys used, who knows how were those lenses cared for? It is bound to be more lemons in there than buying new due to mistreatment, dropping, camping going bad etc...
Also you don't judge a lens capabilities on a single faulty piece.
>>2945999
As a pentax shooter I bought this lens once. It was faulty, so I returned it (thanks keh), but my research turned up that many people (including dpreview) had bad samples, so I never replaced it. I don't even know if the lens is in production anymore- if it is, I wouldnt hesitate to buy it new because you can always return it if it's bad. This is a lens I would avoid on Ebay at all costs.
>>2946001
Mine works perfectly as well as hundreds of others piece. Just because you got a bad one doesn't mean all is bad.

Don't bother arguing with this tranny, he doesn't understand science.
I have two different bags, one for work and one for travel.
I'll start with my work bag.
I keep things really simple, this is my full-time job bag. I have a wireless trigger set and 2 flashes. A clone of the rogue flash bender. Tamron 24-70 2.8 IS and the Canon 50MM 1.4. Cleaning kit (not in photo is also sensor swabs) business cards. Backup body that is never used, it's there just in case my 5D shits itself and finally some duct tape. If I need to I will also bring my 70-200 but for 70% of the jobs I take, this set up is more than capable. I also carry a notebook and pen that is switched from my work to travel bag.

For my travel bag I focus on flexibility and portability.
I carry the XT1 (sometimes the XPRO 2 but I like the flip out screen more for travel)
Fuji 16mm 1.4 or sometimes the Samyang 12mm F2.
Fuji 35mm 1.4
Fuji x100s
18-55 2.8-4
And if need be my 55-200.
Cheap flash and my mini Fuji flash (normally used on my x100s at night)
Some colour jells.
FlashQ wireless trigger set.
cleaning kit, notebook, water bottle, compact Velbon cube tripod, a sitting mat for when I'm shooting ground level and the ground is dirty.

A lot of this stuff will be switched into my bags depending on what I'm doing. I also have another shelve with more vintage stuff. I use the XPRO2 as a video camera sometimes and my MF Pentax is for my own personal portrait work. I have a 150mm F3.5 on there. Also will sometimes use the tele adapter for my Fuji x100s. X10 is used for things like festivals and other places I'm drunk and want a camera. Also got a Carl Zeiss macro that I got in a flea market (Use it on my Fuji) and the helios 58mm f2 for dat swirly Bokeh.

I don't have a recent photo of everything together, I sold off some stuff I wasn't using and picked up a Bronica kit instead.

I really want a 28mm lens for the Nikon kit, but I feel like I already have enough stuff and the GR already gives me a digital 28mm equivalent anyway. I can't decide if I want the f/2.8 AI-s or the f/1.8G, either. I've owned both previously and liked them both.

I would say just don't get an SQ because not having mirror lockup would suck, but between the SQ-A and SQ-Ai there's not much difference. I just picked an SQ-A because I found one in good shape for a bit cheaper than what SQ-Ais go for.
