Hi all, I don't usually come around here but there was something interesting about the iPhone 7 Plus camera I was curious about.
When I'm looking at a photo in my camera roll and I hold down on it, it changes the picture in weird ways I can't explain very well and zooms in after a few seconds.
It seems like the camera takes a few pictures with different lighting then turns it into one picture until you hold down on it?
If anyone knows what this feature is called or knows any more about this I would appreciate any help.
Yeah it's called HDR

HDR, there's an option to turn it off I think if you want it off

Is it true HDR or is it the pseudo HDR that's been on all the other iPhones?

No phone cam and even no real camera is currently able to do decent hdr processing. Its just a fun gimmik, nothing serious, the in-device-processing will always look artificial.

well what is true HDR and what is not ? How many stops of DR is considered to be HDR ?

disgusting. gtflo

Don't listen to anyone else here OP, it's not HDR. It's a feature called Live Photos, with this enabled every time it takes a photo it actually takes a series of about 20 and turns it into a GIF-type file. They're great for 'spur-of-the-moment' shots of people, but pretty useless for anything else. It's a bit of a gimmick at the moment but with sites like Facebook now supporting them it'll only be a matter of time before it catches on.
