Hello /p/, I don't come often to this board, but I've always been intrigued by photography, and recently I thought that it'd be nice to invest more time and resources on it, though I am currently not planning to ever work in the field or making it my main passion. That said, I've only used smartphones to make photos and the most "advanced" camera I ever used was a friend's Canon D1100, which I had a lot of fun experimenting with. I've been looking a bit on the Internet, and I'm trying to decide wether to take a Bridge or an entry level DSRL. The models that caught my eye were respectively the Fujifilm FINEPIX S4200, mostly for the extremely cheap price, and a Canon 1300D. Considering that the budget would reach 500 Euros, maybe 600 if there's a particularly good price/quality ratio, and also that it will probably be a part time hobby for fun, should I take a bridge of a DSRL, and which model would be the best?
pic related: a shot I took a year ago with my smartphone
another shot that I took with that phone
i'l keep bumping with some photos i took until someone answers or the thread gets deleted

i don't know, in terms of price it doesn't differ much from the 1200D and it's an older model. looks interesting but i don't think it'd be the best choice
Latest d5*** and kit lens you can afford, then the 35 1.8 asap, or you'll lose the wide angle view you seem so fond of.
You'll get the real benefits from the sensor upgrade if you do your own post processing.

Could you tell me what are the upsides of the d5 models over the choices I presented earlier? Is it just a matter of quality of image or something else?
>>2934036
thanks, i'm almost sold to the d5000, but i noticed it is SLR, not DSLR, if i'm correct, the D means digital, is there a meaningful difference or is it just a matter of preference?

Sensor performance (d5300 and d5500). Canon is ok but the Fuji isn't even in the running here, it's cheap for a reason.
D5000 is probably best value, it's just getting a bit long in the tooth.

Im considering buying a D5100, since its more recent and the prices i've found are pretty similar
>>2934502
Do it. That's a current gen (14 bit) sensor.

perfect, thanks a bunch for the advice
