While it's certainly not the most interesting photo I feel like it would work well within a set of other features the industrial buildings form at that location especially due to the wide variety of textures and strong separation of colors
I mostly spent some time editing it again because I intend to shoot it in better light and because it'd be nice to have my process down for when I can really nail having the shadows where I want them
Still doesn't answer my question though. Does it look like I overcooked it

cropping is a (usually) most necessary step that /p/ likes to skip entirely. /p/haggotry will have you crush darks to hell and back then raise them way too high, sharpen and denoise then oversaturate, crank up contrast and tonemap before cutting a single superfluous row of pixels out.
Cropping is one of the most important things you can do in post, along with adjusting gain and white balance. You can't hardly make any actual good shots if you can't decide what to keep or cut out, and most of /p/ doesn't even bother considering if anything should go.

if i were you i'd practice making some pics without cropping. or rather, do your cropping in-camera - move your ass around to get things in or out of the frame & compose your picture as you take it. cropping can definitely make you lazy & develop a "whatever, we'll fix it in post" attitude that can be a crutch, especailly if u rely on it too much when you're just starting out and building fundamentals.
it's a really useful tool but many of the most famous and iconic photographers in history never cropped their photos. if you add it back into your arsenal once you're comfortable working without it, it'll become something you can choose to use instead of something u rely on.

you're wrong for many reasons. 1) maybe your camera's 3:2 ratio isn't what fits what you're shooting best. 2) maybe you can't achieve the exact zoom you need 3) maybe you're not holding your camera perfectly leveled so you'll automatically have cropping done after that's corrected whether you like it or not and 4) you've got more margin for error
Look at this thread and you'll see most shots weren't properly framed when shot and have a bunch of stuff that can be cut out. Thinking you can get the perfect framing without any cropping afterwards most of the time is just stupid.

cartier-bresson never cropped shit and he's one of the most celebrated and iconic photographers in history. your responses do sound like situations where cropping would be useful & i'm not some hardliner saying "if you need to crop the shot you may as well jsut trash it."
what I AM saying is that an overreliance on cropping makes you a lazy photographer (no need to look carefully about exactly what's in the frame bc i can just crop extraneous shit out in post), and that in turn has a negative impact on your work.
did you take a picture of an action scene and somebody started walking through your frame at the last second? and there's no chance to reshoot it because the action is already over? by all means, crop the picture!
did you take a picture of a building and lazily include half a tree on the left hand edge of the frame because you couldn't be bothered to get the fuck up and walk five feet over? cropping might disguise this but it's a crutch that's hiding the poor fundamentals which are likely revealing themselves in your work in other ways - shitty imbalanced frames, poor attention to detail, composition that's incongruent with subject matter/intent, etc.

The first of these is a better photo because it looks natural. The other two just aren't as captivating because they look staged. They look like she is posing for your camera. Her body language looks exaggerated and natural. Whereas in the first image she looks almost surprised to see you.
Maybe you could elaborate on the backstory before you go out on the shoot to help it feel authentic. If she is collecting woodland flowers ask her to actually do that then photograph her doing it.

I've done an edit of your photographs how I would personally do it. I think you have a good eye for a scene, just needs a little work in my opinion.
Be mindful of your framing. You don't have a lot of foreground in frame, so after doing some profile corrections and straightening in post, a lot of the foreground was lost.
The only other problem was your white balance, first photo too warm, second too cold.
Other than that, I really like the shots, good stuff.

Thank you, this is really good, it fits somehow what I had in mind when I started the post production: I wanted the colors to be more vivid and intense, but I was editing a photo for the first time in my life so of course it didn't come out very well.
In the second shot I intentionally messed with the white balance in order to make it colder. I wanted to give it a "threatening", towering vibe, but again I was still experimenting for the first time with colour balance, I think I should have worked on it in post production.

Not being rude, obviously for where it is its pretty good. we can't help that there aren't many more interesting places that the average can go to for fun.
I will give you a run down of what is nice and can be improved
+Film, the grain adds a lot of personality
+ almost perfectly leveled skyline
+ cold matching the clouds
- Very blue, not like this detracts but a lot of this looks very blur even down to that clean white shirt. Given the opportunity i would have retaken this shot to capture a few more reds to highly the rocks, also the blue bleeds over into the girls hair
- too many boats, this is mostly a meme from a old photo teacher about composition, but having one "blemish" or group "blemish" is very dynamic and interesting, say if all all the boats were the white sails, it could pass. but there is that ugly little tug that is dark and adds just a little too much, Personally would crop out.
For film however I like this picture a lot, definitely has that imperfect memory look that film does well, But I'm assuming you might want a little more critique than that
