If you don't think of yourself as a good photographer than your already ahead of the game, considering most "photographers" don't know how to take a decent photo but consider themselves "artists"
That is a good picture of your dog, as far as clarity of subject goes. If you have a histogram use it, and remember the rule of 1/3 when framing up your shots.
