cool stuff, how is the contax? is it as good as they say?
>>2921261
Thanks.
I've used various P&S and it's probably my favourite. The lens is great and pretty sharp and focus is quick and precise. You have aperture control which is rare for a P&S. Exposure compensation is nice too. It's kinda heavy, and not pocketable unless you have a jacket on. Feels pretty durable.
If you're interested in one, and have the money I'd say get one now, as they seem to be climbing in price. I would probably sell other cameras to fund a new one if mine broke.

Fair. If you can afford it/find one get an Olympus Stylus Epic. Or an Olympus XA.
Or just try your luck at random thriftshop P&S. Check out www.35mmc.com. There's a few posts on there with random P&S.

I took my Hexar out of its box where its been sitting for over 2 years. Before that i only took it out shooting maybe 3 times and put 4 rolls through it.
When i turned it on the aperture and shutter were being wonky. Ive read that when the battery is low (from just sitting around for literal years) it can cause the hexar to do some weird shit.
Havent had a chance to get a new battery for it yet, buut i really hope thats the only issue :(

if you're shooting color negatives, you're always digitally editing your film photos, whether you let your software automatically correct the colors for you or you do it manually.
You don't just hit invert and get PURE UNTOUCHED FILM AESTHETIC COLORS IMPOSSIBLE BY DIGITAL SENSORS
Scanned film is just another digital image file I can work with. Sometimes all I do is correct the levels and adjust the blue cast, then fuck around with brightness and contrast if needed.
>>2928808
Impossible to leave them untouched because otherwise you'll be at the mercy of the scanner deciding what the correct color balance is. Unless you only do darkroom printing or project slides, there's no point talking about "untouched".

I tend to get expensive film, at least in part because I go through it very slowly. That said, I understand that Foma 100 is absolutely fine.
>>2930819
If you're new to b&w film, yeah, go with the cheap stuff. This'll make you pleasantly surprised when you've got good & finally try some more expensive film, as opposed to getting mopey about expensive film not covering for being new.
That being said, don't shoot grass or trees or leaves with foma 100 unless it's your main subject.

Not that guy but I have a g1. It's an incredibly fast and easy camera to use. The autofocus is decently snappy and I have no gripes with mine. I mainly use mine as a hands off aperture priority with exposure
>>2931054
it's a great tool, i love using it...
the metering is great.
the handlinh..
focus is actually fast but let's say every 37 shots ( 1 film ) you get 1 out of focus image..sometimes 2
it permanently shoots 37 exposures
iam not an expert on this but
beside my leica r4 or contax rts canon a1 etc
i always use the contax g2
I've shot about 10 rolls through my Nikon L35AF. Not sure what to think about it. Sometimes it completely meters wrong/misses focus. Sometimes it's perfect.
I don't think I enjoy the lack of control with compacts, or maybe I'm just using the wrong ones? I normally shoot with a Nikon FE.
Here's a few recent snapshits.

Plustek all day. They take a lot longer to scan with but the quality is brilliant. Ditch the software that comes with it and get Vuescan.
When I get my photos developed they always give me lo-res scans on a CD for like £1 more. I just use these as a reference to pick the best shots and then scan them in a hi-res on the Plustek.
The only reason to get an Epson is if you're archiving hundreds of old negatives and need to do lots at once. Or if you're scanning medium/large format.
>>2931304
what i like on a flatscann like epson is
that it gives you a preview of 24 images at once
then you do little adjustes and click scann...
>>2931376
Yeah but they're shit m8
>>2931323
What about the plustek 120? I plan to scan 35 and mf, is it any good?
>>2931419
Yeah it's great but it costs like £1500
i want to buy a cheap but good point and shoot. any reccs?
>>2931519
Mju-ii is pretty good for around 150, Olympus xa is fucking awesome but it's manual focus but it's cheap, just go to 35mmc.com and look through their reviews, you can get a pretty good unheard of af point and shoot the size of your palm for 10 bucks
>>2931308
Haha thx for comparing to gilden
Ä° asked for the portraits and yes, build in flash.
But i shoot spontaniously except i want a real portrait
>>2931817
>i ask for portraits
actually 95% say no or telling me to fuck off
that's what iam dealing with everyday actually lol
all i really want is to shoot many interesting looking people as possible but they either curse or nicely tell me to fuck off
>feels bad man

that looks shit
I need recommendations for a compact film camera. It needs to be as small as possible, and preferably weatherproof. And above all cheap, zoom is a plus but not necessary. I'm going to use it to take snapshits while on an airsoft field as a player. I had a Mju I got from a flea market for a few yuropoors, but it refused to work corrently and I only managed to take some 15 shots with it before evacuating the roll. It was handy for the purpose otherwise, but it was pretty appalling how much these things cost on Ebay, so I don't think another Mju is going to come into question.
Anything you guys would have in mind? My experience in point and shits is very limited.
What's the cheapest film point and shoot that still has manual controls?

Not a lot of good weatherproof zooms out there, just buy something cheap
>>2934085
No film point and shoot has full manual control, or else they wouldn't be a point and shoot, you could go with the xa which has aperture and manual focus, or you could use the Rollie 35 which has full manual but it's zone focus and a bit pricy but the lens is God tier
i have the contax tvs which is surprsingly very good !!!
iam thinking of trading to a guy who owns the contax t2 but never uses it because he's old now and only shows his collection
I got a Question about Film developing
let's say you have a film that has 22°
you check the List and it says for example :
>22° - 7 min
>24° - 6 min
your developer and the room you're in have 24°
do i go with 6 or 7 min even if the film says 22° but the developer, fixer and everything else are 24°
>>2937063
Are you mixing up ISO and DIN (old film speed scale)?
Most charts give you the dev time at 20 degrees, and then you can compensate with shorter times for higher developer temperature. For home developing is usually easier to go with lower temperatures if you can, since you don't need to be quite as accurate.
Stop and fix is not very temperature dependent, as long as you keep it at room temperature it will be fine.
>>2937072
Ive seen a video where the teacher checks the chart and it says something like
24 degree 6 min
22 degree whatever ...all tmax
then he checks his dev temperature and follows by that order and so on
so lets say i have the fp4 film which says 22°
and my darkroom has 24....what do ? change dev time or cool down to 22 ??
>>2937095
The 22 degrees on the FP4 is just the film speed rating, equivalent to ISO 125.
Use Massive Dev Chart (use Mr. Google) to find the time for your specific developer and dilution of it. Check the chart, it will probably be listed for 20 degrees celsius. You can then find on the same website a tool to calculate the times at different temperatures.
Or you could cool your chemicals down to 20 degrees or whatever, but that might be more difficult for you, idk.
>>2937102
thanks !!
>>2937105
No worries. It wouldn't hurt to read up a bit more on this before you start either I guess.
probably gonna dump some snapshits
mju I first up, before it shit its self :(

I've been using the mino, and it's fun, can't wait to get the film developed (between an FM and the Mino, it's my first actual foray into film outside of disposables).
Haven't bought the batterys for the Oly yet.
Apparently there was a recall on them 10 years ago because they could smoke and shock the user.
>>2940010
pretty!
>G2 Anon here
just bought the Olympus xa2 for 10€
+ the xa also for 10 bucks
tought i'd post it here since i never had a chance finding p&s cameras this cheap...
btw...any advice on shooting with the xa2 ?
>>2940046
Damn, those are fantastic prices considering the fact that I spend 60 on my xa
>>2940046
advice for the xa2?
put it down and pick up the xa.
they're really not comparable, ones a full featured rangefinder, the others a P&S
>>2940115
Yeah both are great cameras but the xa is a bit better, focusing is hard on the xa but you get aperture control and the optics are better, I'd choose the xa if I were you
>>2940125
just called the nice asian lady and told her
to send 2x xa instead of xa2 and xa lol
she put pictures of the xa and xa2 as one product on the selling site and titled it olympus xa2 so i tought that the xa 2 has the f2,8 since it was on the pictures...
gladly i checked reviews on it while taking a dump !
>>2940135
they are a real joy to use, the shutter is light as a feather, the rangefinder patch works well enough and the tiny cog viewing window under the lens is cute as fuck.
The lens is sharp as heck in the centre and has quite a heavy vignette, can make for some surprisingly dramatic photos.
>>2940138
thanks mate i love postive news on cameras i purchased. actually i've seen many pics taken with those or mju, stylus etc. all i knew was
they're popular for some reasons.
nuffin will stop me with the xa and the tvs in my pockets yeahhh love shooting film MOTHERFUCKERS HAHAH
>>2940138
Vinette isn't even that bad on it, it actually looks good sometimes but if you don't like it it's super easy to take away in lightroom
