Old one finally hit the autosage after 90-something days, in that time I learned how to walk, came back to FL, got all my shit stolen because I was stupid, scored a D7000 outfit that I have been building over the last couple of weeks, went back on the road for 25,000 miles and came back >>2840526

Random bullshittery on the road, today we are in Washington on I-90 headed to Florida with a load of spuds and I have a new rig now, 2016 Peterbilt 587 that I'll be running for a while for another driver. This thing's nuts are so big we had to get an oversize permit just to leave the yard with it, it flies up hills even fully loaded no problem. 525hp, probably 1800 ft.lb.

Smallin Civil War Cavern.
I may actually make a separate set for caves, I've shot so many of them in Missouri while I was waiting to get this truck.
On the rock on the right are inscriptions carved from Osage indians 1000 years ago, to Civil War soldiers to a couple of hicks down the street proclaiming their love for one another. It's worth a stop if you are nearby.

Why would all your pics of a sunny and bright day be processed to look like there is something somber and heavy over the scene, dark ugly colors, an oversaturated mess of puke like tones with squashed highlights and oppresive shadows, an overall contrived scene. If that is how you experience a rather sunny day, im really worried. Are you depressed? Looks like an overcompensation a depressive would do.

everything about these is bad, the processing, subject matter and composition are each somehow worse than the other. it's not normal for someone who's been doing this as long as you to have similar results to that of a complete beginner. seriously consider finding a new hobby, you're seriously wasting your time with this

You stupid faggot, don't paint isi as equivalent to Sugar. She has been, by far, dealt with the most irrational hatred the board has ever dealt out since the days of Alphon. Anons have more or less singlehandedly destroyed every thread she's made for years on end with low quality posts, verbal abuse, false expertise, sexism, and racism.

I think I lived the American dream on my holidays. Thanks man. Isi is a great gal and all but a bit salty.

Well damn, son. That's not too shabby. It's still not centered perfectly, but it's much better than your other symmetrical stuff to date. You're moving in the right direction.

really? I thought I did a decent job of correcting them manually. I did notice even stopped down it has some magenta / yellow fringing in the extreme highlights. My Lightroom doesn't have a profile so I eyeballed it.
I still like it, very good DX lens glad I read the reviews.
>>2916584
Your first picture is my favorite. And yes slightly too dark, but not outrageous.
>>2945425
I went from the Sigma 10-20mm (first version) Which I still love.
to the 16-35 F4 VR (Full frame) And to be honest, the 10-20mm has a lot of character for an ultrawide. the barrel distortion is almost a positive thing in emphasizing scale / distance.
>>2916584
Constructive criticism please.
How could I have made this shot better.
>>2946160
The light is shitty. Don't shoot at this time of day. Everything is washed out and murky.
>>2946160
You live near Fort Payne? Try to catch it when it's foggy or there are lots of low-flying clouds.
Your issue here is that it's shot at mid-day in really bland light.
Fog and closer to sunrise or sunset is what you want. In the conditions you were in, a polarizer would be some help.
Pic related, was standing in exactly the same spot you are.

Good eye! No, I live in Tuscaloosa. I was just passing though on my way back from Tennessee and thought I'd take the scenic route. Would've loved to have gotten there in the morning, or even if it had been a little overcast. Unfortunately it's just been clear sky's for the past couple of weeks, which meant the falls were dried up too. Did manage to take a snapshit of these guys.

Yeah caves are cool. I'm mega pissed I missed the very last opening of Onondaga Caves by one day for the season and have to wait until April of next year. Meramec Caverns is fucking dope if you can get past all the nationalism and religious propaganda at the end. I've done most if not all the major tourist caves in Missouri at least along 44.......might take a swing at Florida Caverns on hometime in a couple weeks.
I will definitely say if you are in the Southern Missouri area do some of the caves. Fantastic Caverns is pretty cool. The Smallin Civil War Cavern is nice. Talking Rocks is mega-dope but fat people need not apply. There are crevasses I barely fit in to and there's a lot of climbing, it's a workout if you're carrying equipment.
All of these caves allow tripods but you have to keep up with the tour which can be challenging.
>>2952643
The other major challenge is keeping the lenses from fogging up, in Florida you have to equalize the temperature in the lens with outside by not running the A/C in the car before you shoot but with caves it's the opposite, I've found if I point the air conditioner into my bag I can circumvent fogging for an hour before the humidity takes over.
>>2952643
>if you can get past all the nationalism and religious propaganda at the end
Ya know, you get accused of being a whiny liberal vegan cunt. It's 3edgy5u statements like that which cause it.
I'll keep defending your threads, but bro you've got to tone that shit down. It doesn't make you look intellectual or mature. It makes you look like a 17-year-old spurglord who's trying as hard as he can to reject his parents and the way he was brought up.
Ya know how you handle things you don't like? Ignore them. Some people have pride in their country, and that's okay. Some people are religious, and that's okay. This isn't Saudi Arabia. No one's going to slice your head off if you don't abide by their religion.
>>2952675

D7000 is a nice step up from the old 5D I was using. I was originally going to use it until I had the Df and then toss it but I've decided to keep it for birds and video and shit like that. It's also lighter than the Df with the 18-55 so it makes for a nice walkaround carry piece when I want to travel light.
I'm quite impressed on how well it handles low light, definitely would recommend it if you can't swing the 7100/7200. I like that I can crank up the shadows without them turning into a bowl of Fruit Loops like the 5D.

probably soon OTR isn't paying me what I would like, mostly from a combination of a tractor that breaks down every other week and a co-driver that doesn't like to drive in anything but perfect weather daylight. He loves to sit then gets pissed when we dont make any money for the week.

Everything in the Bakken is picking back up. It's not boom levels, but companies are hurting right now for CDLs. Before you do try to come up, get your tank and hazmat endorsements. What's also helpful is if you can manage to get H2S and Safeland/PEC or the OSHA 10. You can do H2S online at like safetyusa.com for $60. OSHA 10 is around $300. Safeland is in person only. Companies will get you these, but it's better to have them in hand.
>>2956357
I've already got tank and hazmat. Some of our guys worked in Bakken back in the boom days and have mentioned going back, I may just go with them.
OTR is nice and all but if I wanted to make this kind of money I could have stayed home and blazed chronic.
>>2956365
Water hauling is mostly dead, they use 8" lay flat now and a lot of wells are on pipelines. There is a little work on the service side (hauling water to locations that use freshwater injection), but most water trucks these days pull salt water from wells to disposals.
Sand hauling is still a thing (the M shaped pneumatic trailers).
A ton of diesel gets hauled daily too...but really being a straight trucker isn't your best bet. You're better off getting on something like a hot oiler, frac crew, Wireline, coiled tubing, or some other job where having a cdl it's just a requirement for getting the equipment moved. There's more labor in that, but not as much as many believe, the pay is better, and the work is steadier.
>>2956369
We see the sand haulers all the time pulling doubles and triples on 40, 80 and 90 pretty much anywhere out west.
If my situation does not improve soon I'm going to probably bounce I have a perfect driving record and got my 1 year ATA award recently.
>>2956371
Bugger sand cans...too loud and gotta wear respirators else silicosis. I want to say they get up to around 125 dB while offloading...even wearing muffs and plugs, you'll only get that down to around 90 dB. My hearing is bad enough as is.
But to give you a hint of how desperate they are for drivers, we use compressed natural gas as a fuel. This comes in tanks that are pressurized to around 3500 psi. Our supplier has two brand spanking new (read as: first job after getting cdl) drivers making our deliveries.
>>2956377
Man that sounds like one big pussy just waiting to get fucked
If this OTR doesn't pan out I just may head up that way. staying in a cuckshed for 4 god damn months barely making any money without even seeing my home state is getting old
>>2956379
Keep an eye on the WTI. So long as it's above $50/bbl, there will be work here. The more it's above $50, the more money there is. If it breaks $100 again, drop everything and get up here that moment.
Below $50 it depends on how good you are and what company you're with. If you're good enough and have the right contacts, you'll keep working...not as many hours, but still generally enough (my last year, I made a third my normal amount, but that was still $60k, and I've topped $15k in the last two months).

Kinda missing home now and can't remember if I posted this but I remember the story so fuck it. Sugar (possibly) repost. (I should have some fresh content this week we're broke down in Mass just outside of Bahhhston and going into the city tomorrow)
Anywhoozle, years ago when I was just as stupid and crazy as I am now but with a fully-functioning ankle meaning I could run in a sticky situation, a friend of mine happened upon an abandoned mansion in South Florida that if you do a little digging on the internet you can find too. It's got signs all around it that say "No Trespassing" and pictures of revolvers.
Normally I would (and did) say "hey dude I don't think this is a good idea".
"Oh come on Sugar don't be a pussy I know this guy"
So we walked in and shot pic related. About 10 minutes later this gentleman with an AR-15 walks out and asks us "what the fuck are you guys doing here" I was walking back to his truck at the time.
"Anon you might want to come out and have a look at this"
"Hold on Sugar almost done"
"He has a fucking AR-15 and wants to know what the fuck we're doing here I thought you knew this guy"
Long story short, he didn't and we almost got in big trouble but he let us finish up since as he puts it "you guys aren't crack heads or drug dealers so wrap it up and leave" so we stayed another 5 minutes and let him follow us while we shot and got the hell out of there.
Well I thought I lost everything in a hard drive crash a few months back and went digging through my archives and found this, as well as all of the night life stuff I shot back in my pro days that has never been posted here so those may find their way into this thread.

I had that lens years ago. I was always pleasantly surprised with it. Probably my favorite lens from shooting on crop. From my experience, it always excelled at landscapes. I never really found anything that performed similarly on FF, but then again I don't really shoot that style much any more so I haven't looked that hard.
>>2964144
The way I see it, Shug, you have two potential problems with this shot, either of which explains why it blows. The first problem assumes that the train is the subject. In that case, it's way the fuck underexposed. At that rate, you're just a few stops away from a fucking silhouette. So, if you were shooting the train, you fucked up exposure. The second problem assumes the sky/sunset was the subject. If so, (a) the colors aren't nearly interesting enough to justify that, and (b) you've got too much goddamned shit in the frame to take away from the colors. So, if you were shooting the sky, you fucked up.
Either way, it's a shit shot. It's one of the weakest in the tread.
I don't care if you like that lens. Don't spam this shot for the next 6 months with your parroted "hurr durr tonika wide open no bad" bullshit. It's a fine lens, but this shot doesn't show that at all.

Pull back on those blues and greens, bro.

It's what stereotypical Mexifags say.
Note I didn't have to say "dumb".

let the man highlight his chromabs if he wants to.

I do but I was pressed for time in setting those up they are longer exposures and I wanted to catch the kids fishing before they ran off, they would fish in one spot for a few minutes and then move.
I honestly thought they were straight it is Missouri about the only level ground here is the weigh station scales on 44.

Clone out that person and you might have a respectable, New Topo type shot. I also might have picked up that newspaper thing that's in the window and moved it. If you do more stuff like this you might get going somewhere.

This is a decent step in a good direction. I don't like the person, I also wish your perspective wasn't so high in the room. The amount of ceiling is overpowering the floor.
Also, I think this needs a bit of good old PC to straighten it up.
Just trying to hit that post limit.
300! Adios, snapshitter.

He'll just post a new thread.
And you know what? I'm glad he will. This is a photography board. He posts photos. We need more of this.

I'm willing to throw out the baby with the bathwater in Sugar's case.
>>2973881
You know, he's polite enough to trip. You could just filter him out. It's amazing how much it'll help your experience here on /p/. Just get rid of people or words you don't like.

Just because you didn't see the rock thrown into the lake doesn't mean you can't see the ripples.

cool but the sky looks like you stacked six polarizers on top of each other

>Communicates only in water analogies
>In a Sugar thread
>Sugar is a by-product of sunlight, CO2 and water
>I shoot mainly daytime landscapes
>Air is 76% CO2
It all makes sense now.
>>2920575
I was also wonder this, but then I realized its a refreshing perspective that makes you search for the reasoning.

>Air is 76% CO2
Really? this is what american education has come down to? No wonder you fucktards elected a clown for president.
FYI the air's CO2 content is less than 0.05% you idiot! Air is generally ~21% O2 and ~79% N2 and less than 0.1% other stuff.
Goddamn imbeciles!
You here, Shug? Got a new thread yet?
>>2916612
lol even worse
