I disagree with number 4. If you want to make money in photography sometimes you have to take pictures you don't like

>mfw the most successful photographers in the world usually study a science
honestly the best way to learn is through experience and id rather spend the money on traveling somewhere to shoot rather than photography school, better to major in something that actually requires 4 years of school to be good at

I mean, bartenders make great money, so I don't really see the problem with that.

I wish, they make way better money than I do.
Also, did anyone actually go to the photographer's website and check out his portfolio? It's pretty fucking weak, basic shit.

If that's your high watermark for success, then yeah, you absolutely don't need to go to college. If you want a little more than the bare minimum of achievement, you shouldn't be so quick to discount school.
Different people learn in different ways. Some benefit from the discipline of formal structured projects, others learn from the bruises they pick up along the way.
It might also depend on the kind of photography you want to end up doing. I don't know if they exist but I think photography courses might be more useful if they specialised a bit. Perhaps shorter courses on glamour and portraits for example, architecture and interiors, weddings and events etc etc
Studying in Filmmaking can land you more jobs than studying photography. Study film.. work your way up in the camera department and become a DOP.. earn more cash and you get to practice both motion picture and stills.

> study photography
If you don't do a lot of maths or learn a lot about facts of natures, you're not doing engineering, medicine or science and shouldn't be anywhere near academia.
Everything else is just supposed to be vocational training.
I do photography on the side of my office job on the weekends. I make $4k a month from the office job, and around $2-2.5k from photography each month. I think I could go full time and quit my office job.
