I'd imagine going somewhere and taking photographs. Nothing beats off first hand experience.
youtube has tons of advice/tutorials and the reddit photography board has decent things here and there
first question you need to answer is what do you like? you like people, aminals, structures...man made or natural? the stars? the moon, asses on women walking down the streets?
