I already knew how to use Photoshop before getting into photography, so I was editing stuff day 1.
Retouching people photos is something that you're always going to perfect and get better at, so I'd probably say that it's the thing that'll take the most time, for anyone. Most effects can be completed fairly straight-forwardly, but a face is just something where you have to pick when to stop and say it's good enough.

I edited my photos past RAW developer where I did not set up any local adjustments only like ten times when the photograph was something special and required it - happens too rarely though.

if anything i have learned to not be a heavyhanded cuck. i do everything i did since week one but way smoother or lighter. train your eyes not your "techniques".
