What could I have done to make this picture better [EXIF data

longer lens so you wouldn't have had to crop the living hell out of it.

Waited for better light, waited for something exciting to happen, composed it in a way using other elements to make it more interesting.

It nothing special and there's nothing I can see that you could have done to make it better. It's a picture that shouldn't have been taken in the first place if the goal is photographic merit.
