Great exposure, those look like tough lighting conditions.
>>2894613
thanks anon.
this was shot with Ektar 100 too at f/2.8 on a hasselblad 500cm. the raw scan was pretty dark to be honest. I ended up going back and making three scans, one for highlights, one for shadows and one for mids and did some layer masking to get the final shot.
>>2894661
why did you do all that and leave the black edge :/
shit like this until the shutter gummed up. I shot some ektar as well which was gorgeous but I didn't live somewhere sunny at the time so couldn't use it that often

>>2901627
It's absolutely wonderful, I had also wanted one for years and finally got it. It's tiny, light, and a joy to use. Don't forget to take the damn lens cap off as dumb as that sounds.
Since I'm mainly a sheet film guy, my only problem is the lack of being able to change film with each shot. I was backpacking earlier this week and had Provia loaded then the contrast got so damn crazy at sunset that I wish I had Ektar or Portra in there. Oh well it's the nature of the beast, committing to twelve shots on the same emulsion is new to me.

Ektar is wonderful and like shooting with it but it's weird to have to plan like that. Shooting with colour is refreshing, though...
>>2900868
Thanks, the attached is a mediocre portrait (POV too low - a common issue for novice TLR users, and this lady isn't even tall), but it shows well how the Rollei's Xenar lens performs.

>>2897399
Because that's part of the picture and makes it look like it was taken by a human, of a human. It's imperfect and that's what makes it interesting. If every single photo was perfect it wouldn't be very interesting. Beautiful maybe but interesting can also be beautiful.

If you mean real camera no budget contraints, Memiya 6.
>>2911755
Yeah I thought the Mamiya 6 would be the one, thanks anon!
>>2911756
The Mamiya 6 is absolutely killer for travel. I did a few backpacking trips with it. It weighs about the same as a Hasselblad or Bronica though. You only get into weight savings once you start carrying multiple lenses around since they are much smaller than their SLR equivalents.
The collapsable lens mount function is a great space saver too.

I tried to shoot my dog on Velvia 50 and it was a nightmare. I couldn't stop down at all and still hand-hold it, and as a result my razor's edge depth of field just missed the eye. It sucks.

guys , i can get 5 Portra 160NC + 5 Portra 160VC in 120 format for 30 euros, so basically 3€/film
the problem is they expired in 2004 , should i still buy ? or is going to be really bad ?

You should just get rid of it. Sell it or pass it along to someone who will enjoy it. No need hoarding gear. Go shoot with the digital and have fun. That's all that really matters.
>>2914049
I'd sell it to anyone with three rolls of Velvia, a 90mm and prism who made a good offer, I'm just too busy to remember to put it up on eBay or Craigslist
>>2897432
>Acros
Such an amazing film. It's really underrated here on /p/. When everybody shoots B&W, they want some edge, 3contrast5u bullshit. Acros is like the Portra of the B&W world. It's so fucking smooth.
>>2914063
I wish I could take that prism off your hands.
>>2913865
Yeah, maybe a little hazy in mine, should have spent some more time going over it.
Out of curiosity? How much digital retouching if any do you do to your film scans? I tend to retouch a lot when I shoot digital and I just started shooting film (currently waiting to get my first roll back). Do you guys think digital retouching compromises the experience or what?
>>2914964
>digital retouching
what do you mean by that? like removing elements in some mccurry fashion? or just color mangling? if the later, i think its pretty much needed because scanners are ass and you need to bring the colors back to the image, or create new ones if it suits your end.
now, i have two kind of film photos, small format and big format. big format are heavily edited and i even do some hardcore homo stuff like deleting people and gruesome diagonals correction and shit. in small format i dont touch anything beyond contrast and levels.

why weren't there more 2.8 lenses for medium format

Size/weight/useless DoF?
At least for the Mamiya Press, the 100mm 2.8 is notably larger and heavier than the 3.5.
Makes me wonder what the brick of a 250mm lens would be like at 2,8, given the f5.6 version weighs ~2kg.
my cat, shot today with a Mamiya C330f

Mainly I shoot my friend or family on events. But a lot of wiered things coming out when I try something to achieve something.
What's some great and yet inexpensive camera of this format?
>>2919555
give us a budget. inexpensive is subjective.
I don't know... give me various ranges, I doubt I'll buy one now, but maybe eventually I'll decide if getting a cheaper one is good enough for me or spending an extra hundred on a better one.
Ideally 100ish to 300, but I would consider that too much for something that is almost a gamble (used, old cameras).
>>2919559
Lots of stuff to unpack here. I'm not going to take it all in order.
First, this format is known as medium format. MF cameras come in all shapes and sizes and produce shots of all shapes and sizes. This are shot on 6x6 MF cameras.
Second, you should never spend money on a gamble. Buy from a reputable dealer. End of problem. The more reliable source for used gear is probably KEH. If you have a reputable camera shop nearby where you can test the gear in person, that may be fine, but it's hard to beat KEH's selection and price, and their quality is gold standard in the camera universe. They have pretty fast turnover on their site, so don't just look once and give up.
Third, $100-300 ain't much at all in the camera world, especially for MF cameras. That doesn't meant that you can't get something good, but that's definitely on the low end. Whether or not you need to spend more than that really depends on what you want. I think I spent about $250 on my first MF camera, which was a TLR.
Fourth, you probably have two options in that price range. There are probably some decent TLRs to be found for around $300. These are your old school, basic MF cameras. As long as it works, it works. The downside is that they are a one-trick pony. The only other option in that price range would be to build a Bronica system. You'll need a body, a viewfinder, a film back, and a lens, but you can customize what you want and you can always upgrade. You may need to go a little above $300, but probably not by much. If you don't mind spending a couple hundred more, you can get a good Mamiya system which will be built like a tank and will last forever.
>>2919572
Thanks for the info. How and what do I need for the "Mamiya system"
>>2919624
You'd need a body, a viewer, a film back, and a lens. The only thing about the Mamiya systems is that the 6X7 aspect ratios are much, much, much cheaper than the 6x6 ratios. So, you get slightly larger than a square. (It's all supply and demand. The Mamiya 6X6 backs are just rare. They aren't fancy or better. There's just not a lot of them.)
Just a quick look at KEH and here's how I'd build a great beginner system:
RZ67 Body - $299 (EX)
120 Back - $109 (EX)
Waist Level View Finder - $65 (EX)
90mm lens - $238 (EX)
That's all EX quality, which, from KEH, would be fucking perfect. Plus, those things are built like fucking tanks, so they'll last forever. They ain't light, but for the price it's hard to beat the quality.

He could also get a Fuji GW690
>>2915146
sorry for the late reply
I think it was Fuji 160NS, overexposed by 1 stop and then further adjustments in LR as needed (mostly raising shadows and highlights, lowering contrast, raising vibrance and lowering saturation)
