Taking apart my rokinon 8mm to see why the aperture ring is not responsive. Clearly something is not catching just not quite sure what's not catching. Could someone help?

Well it looks like the whole back of the lens fell off.
Theres your problem. Next.
Welcome to /p/
It's kinda impossible to tell what's wrong by looking at the photo, unless somebody happens to know this lens really well. I bet I could troubleshoot it if I actually had the lens in hand, but I don't see anything obvious from here.
The best advice I can give is to find the lever or whatever that most directly controls the aperture, and then work your way "out" from there, and see if you can find the pin, lever, or whatever that should be pushing the other components but isn't.

yea i realized it was kind of a long shot posting for help, but every video i've watched so far hasn't helped. I believe the C frame piece on the top of lens is whats not connecting to some piece

Oil on the blades?

Can you open and close the aperture manually or are the blades stuck?
What's that little silver pin?
The part of the yellow ring curving inwards looks like what's usually supposed to pass the chosen aperture when you turn the ring to the aperture mechanism by pushing something down.
Is it plastic or metal inside?

is that spring still in tension?
seems to be ok, judging by this vid.

unless by "unresponsive" you mean "not clicking" then you're missing the small bearing and the spring :D

check the aperture ring.
