also, your lighting is terrible, most of your subjects in shade with strong backlight. either move your models or invest in a reflector

"blown highlights" is a meme that I don't care about. Either way I'm working on a fix, been experimenting on cutting dev time.

As for the lighting, these are people I meet on the street. A reflector isn't really usable in these situations as I would need an assistant and extra time to position it right, it simply doesn't fit into my shooting style. However I am becoming more hands on in the direction of my subjects so I can work with what light there is. The park that I'm focusing on in this series is ringed with large shade trees, so I'm still working out the best times of day, angles of light, areas with good coverage, etc.

Your highlights are indeed roasted to fuck in all your B&W shots.
I understand wanting bright photos, but you need to work on some subtlety.
If these are scanned prints, maybe just start by moving down a paper grade.
You could also try a less aggressive film developer.

But back to the actual photos, why in fuck's name do you choose to take portraits with a lense with such bad boke?
Fuck the mamiya off, use that bloody 85 AF-D and a finer grained film.
