I usually just up exposure a bit, up contrast, lower highlights, raise shadows, sometimes lower whites, lower blacks, maybe saturation. then play with curve to accent certain parts and maybe do some lens distortion. pretty basic stuff

Why were you using such a low shutter speed in broad daylight. Anyways, forget about that photo and move on. Become better at curating your work so you don't get people annoyed at your mediocre work. For every golden shot you will have hundreds of duds, just gotta learn to let go of a poorly executed shot even though you put thought into it.

No tips on finding the right perspective, it's highly situational and my only tip would be to digest and study different types of media such as film and traditional art. Just to get a taste of what looks good but when you are faced with a scene you have to look at thing from all vantage points. It's trial and error as with all practices.

It was on aperture priority and the ISO was a little low, at 200. But you're right, forget the excuses, it's a shit photo and should've gone into the trash.

I find it tough to curate my work. I attach emotions to the idea of a shot instead of how i actually executed it. Also, I rarely get feedback in RPT (fair enough, i'm pretty bad), 500px/flickr is mostly like-baiting and instagram is where I actually try to have a portfolio.
