You can attach Canon lenses to a Sony A7R II.

>inb4 sony fags REEEEEEEEEE themselves
>>
>>2882148
Do you mean the sony zeiss? Because i included it.

Did you mean the 55mm 1.4 otus? Or the 50mm milvus? Because neither are native fe.

And when you say you need one normal lens, planar or double gauss? Fast or small? Is af a priority? Are you povvo? So many variables.
>>
>>2882153
No.

I mean the Zeiss Planar 50 1.4 FE.
>when you say you need one normal lens
>planar or double gauss
I'm not that autistic buddy.
>fast or small
Again, Not autistic, a lens is a lens. I'm not going to cry over size or a slightly smaller aperture
>is AF a priority?
I don't need to walk around with crutches, so I don't need digital crutches either.
>povvo
Nope, I just don't need to not even buy, but own yet another 50mm lens. And no. I don't need f0.95 either.

Collecting 50&55mm lenses is pretty much a disability. No amount of justification will appear rational to people who don't have brain problems.
>>
>>2882146
Yes and a true Sony fag will own all of them. Having gear that is actually useful is anathema to Sony fanbois. That, after all, is why they choose Sony

Pixel size does not matter in the way most assume.

Sensor size DOES MATTER for low light work. That's obvious when even poor FF sensors have better high ISO IQ than the best APS-C sensors.

APS-C has gotten so good that it doesn't matter for most. But some want it or actually even need it.

Up your game, you can use your phone as a remote and viewfinder straight out of the box.

>2016
Yep

>£ for bad optics.
Lets have a quick look at all 3 brands fast 28mm
Canon - not sharp, heavy, middle priced
Nikon - sharp, heavy, highest priced
Sony - sharp, light, lowest priced

No canikon normal touches sony's 55mm optically

Lensrentals have stated the 24 70 is every bit as good as the canon L ii, if not a hair better.

Comparing canikons 85mm options to the gm is just a joke.

I can understand that you're poor and can't afford all of these amazing things, luckily you can adapt ANY lens you want to the sony and is by far the best and cheapest way to make the most of your grandpas old collection of sears shit.

>>
>>2882876
>muh Bayer filter!!!
>what...about...muh...Bayer...filter!!!

I always get a kick when a filmfag waves his hands and says "Bayer filter."

A) Your retina utilizes the same method to detect color. If detecting color across a 2D array imposed some severe deficit vs. detecting it across a 3D stack, then we would only be able to tell using scientific equipment. We wouldn't actually be able to see the advantage because our eyes use 2D filtration/interpolation.

B) When we use scientific instruments, even P&S sized Bayer sensors can discern more tones/colors, and do so more accurately, than 35mm film. APS-C and 35mm easily rank up there with MF in this respect. Color film may use stacked layers, but it is still effectively a dithered mechanism. And tonal/color accuracy is directly related to how many dots / grains / dye clouds (depending on medium) you have.

Put another way: a 2x2 grid of Bayer filtered pixels is more accurate in its assignment of color than dye clouds in a piece of color film that is the same size as the 2x2 array.

When film fags talk about the "pleasing, natural" look of a particular film they are expressing their personal preference for the curves the chemists designed that film to have. It's like saying you love the "pleasing, natural" look of VSCO filters.

Which is absolutely fine. There are numerous films I fucking loved, some of which are no longer made unfortunately. But I don't pretend film is special because chemicals or grains or Bayer filters.

>Why is it Sony haters always have the same tired arguments

>arguments

Some of those things listed are not definitive.
>salty as fuck
Nice gaming reference. It has no place in this post.

There's nothing else I really want to say outside of the following things due to your same tired arguments ;^)

As an A7 owner. I don't like the EVF. I'm just not fond of it compared to others I've used. It's position on the camera is poor. I don't use a diopter on any other camera but the edges of the EVF always appear blurry to me, but that's probably because of the internal reflections in the EVF housing.

I don't like the ergonomics personally, some buttons or dials feel very oddly placed and too out of the way. Having some features being able to be custom mapped to one button and not another is limiting for no reason at all.

All that aside, there's no objectively better camera outside of IQ, shutter speed and X sync. It's all about personal preference and your own individual needs. That's why you will consistently see people who either love or hate the A7/A6k series of cameras.

Ironically, it's the best camera to "unlock their full potential".
A7s2 is "only" 12mpix and the 7R is prone to fine details blurring when handheld because muh 42.2 mpix.
The A7ii is indeed the best to adapt all those vintage glass. Don't even try a comeback with sharpness.

The Sony 28mm may be sharp, but it is in no way optically superior. I shot with it for nearly a year and I have noticed some serious problems. First of all, the chromatic aberration can be terrible, especially when shooting sunset/sunrise with trees blocking the sky. Second off, it absolutely falls apart when shooting into the sun. Shit tons of flaring and ghosting. Even when just shooting the city skyline at night your ghosting will be so bad that you'll see fain duplicates of buildings and lights.

Now the Zeiss Loxia 21mm, that's a real mans lens. Jesus fucking christ I love that thing.

A7S II is a pretty neat camera that can do some serious shit for you. But, it's a specialty system that requires the use of adapters for cinema lenses, an external recorder and hoping it doesn't overheat.

I've used it extensively and never use autofocus because of how dismal it is, even with sony/zeiss glass. The EVF is pretty badass.I can zoom in to focus manually on subjects with rather amazing accuracy.

They aren't quite there yet, and the lens selection is fucking bogus.

The one ((((((good)))))) quirk about this system is the ability to use rangefinder glass like Voigtlander.

what are you talking about anon?
Why would you need an external recorder for it? / what kind of overheating? Never had any issues.
The one serious downside of this camera - and now I am not comparing it to a standard 5D III, but Magic Lantern gave me super high standards - is the (sub?)mediocre focus peaking it comes with. Focusing in the fly - without punching in, which can be a torture during concerts etc. - is an issue and probably an external monitor is the answer.

>what are you talking about anon?

I'm a working cinematographer/dp/director/filmmaker/whatever the fuck you want to call it.

So, I've put the S through its paces. She overheats in outdoor settings. You absolutely must shade the camera or else you risk overheating within as little as 15 minutes. It shuts off after about 45 minutes of continuous shooting indoors.

The 5D3 gives me way less issues, but no 4k or cinema log for post. The FS7, F5 and C300 are amazing systems that do the trick, but they don't have that buttery low-light performance and cost quite a bit to rent. Blackmagic is a fucking joke.

The A7 platform is soooo close to being literally perfect for light-weight videography, but not quite there.

>tldr: I want a RED.

Just put it at f/8 and focus a little bit before infinity before you hand it to them. That or put it on a tripod with a self timer.

"To my great disappointment though, after pulling my shots into the computer, I discovered that despite the resolution of the files, they just looked smudgy — something (as I’ve since discovered) that only seems to happen with my 28-135mm, especially when zoomed in, focusing at hyperfocal. I’ll have to get the lens checked out."

The story was, for the most part, very positive and a good read.

I don't think it's too much a surprise that a video-specific lens is less than tack sharp for landscape applications at its long end.

That lens is pretty much boss tier.

It features 1 less Anomalous Dispersion element than its Milvus equivalent, and it has far less optical complexity. And yet it still outresolves to Milvus, and doing so in a smaller and lighter package.

Why didn't Sony win, guys? I thought A7RII is the best camera in the world? This reviewer is completely biased.

Sounds like maybe you just suck at shooting into the sun then. I love my 28mm and the chromabb that I get usually is minor and can be easily removed in Lightroom.
