Or a tracking shot of a moving subject. It's not uncommon to bump ISO in sports photography to maintain high shutter speed, and with auto sports you may also want to stop down to get more of the car in focus and it makes the background more dynamic.

Joel Meyerowitz shot at ISO 1200 and 1/1000sec when he was photographing black and white with Winogrand.
Shooting at 1250 at this point confers virtually no risk of problematic noise except for the largest and finest of reproductions.
Especially in "run and shoot" applications, having the freedom to alterately shoot rock-steady at f/8 or f/2.8 or exposing to the right even in deep shadow gives you a lot of freedom.
With high res sensors, accounting for the resolution and contrast penalty at ISO 1250, you still need something like 1/250 - 1/400 with even a 50mm lens to eliminate shake consistently.
