That's it from the past few days I think. I'll post more as I shoot. Sorry about the lack of exif. I'll answer any questions if you have them.
>that focus
I think you have some cum on your lense
Are all of these first instinct photos or did you have to wait for them? What are you shooting with?
>>2872948
This is my favorite of the group. Good work.
>>2872976
Close enough to the truth. All shot with the $30 fotasy 35mm, which has a focal bowl. It's almost impossible to predict how it will focus in the middle of the night.
>>2873102
Thank you! These were all taken within a second or two of seeing the frame. Shot with an x-t1 and fotasy 35mm, processed mostly with the in camera engine + insta.
>>2872948 changed a lot in the course of a minute, so I kept snapping it. The girl noticed and didn't seem to mind.

I'm guilty of it too, but the fact that every lonely person on the street is buried in their phone is fcking up my pictures.

Don't be such a pedant.
>>2873225
You're already becoming one of my favorite trips.
Seriously though, if you're not using the image hover function in settings, you're fucking up.
>>2873225
these are all well under 1MB desu
>>2872950
really nice proof for people on this board that sharpness and focus aren't everything. great stuff. like the first one the most but wtf is going on here
>>2873319
you could start shooting less people. you have some nice work but i feel like some are posted just because they have a person candid in them and seem a bit uninspired.
>>2873319
>Anyone else live down here?
Born and raised in Atlanta. Lived here my entire life. What crack town part of the city were these taken in?
If you're just looking for people, you need to be along Peachtree in the downtown area, where all the tourist crap is, in and around Centennial, or further over to the GSU campus.
>>2873234
why is that being pedantic? because you follow one rule and not the rest?
>>2873342
Yeeeaaaah the pictures I take without people are even less inspired. Part of this series is trying to fit them in. I agree, some weren't very successful. Namely the homeless fella and that no deliveries pic.

Peachtree, somewhere. I had been walking for a while.
I'm going to give it another go tonight, maybe midtown.

>why is that being pedantic
Because the images are well within the suggested guidelines.
>and/or about
The images are all around 1400px and 300KB.
>>2873359
You know what? You're actually right. "Pedantic" implies that you're doggedly applying the rules in the most technical, annoying sort of what. But that's not really accurate, is it? Because you're not applying the rules. You're fucking ignoring the "or" of the rules, which doesn't make you pedantic, it just makes you an illiterate cunt.
>>2873445
>illiterate because of pointing out an arbitrary rule
>>2873526
>tripfag still purposely ignoring the "or"
why must you be so unlikable?
>>2873543
I said arbitrary. I admit overlooking it. What I'm saying now is that there is no need to be uncivil about it.
I'm also new around here, and saw how pissy people get about the rules. Learning as you go.
>>2873547
Try not to be a cunt to people on baseless grounds then.
Lurk more.
>>2873526
Anons are right, lurk more. Or whatever. I'm not the /p/olice. Definitely saved that picture though.
The streets were dead af tonight.
>>2873584
Well, why not get pictures of dead streets? Most city night stuff focuses on people. If it's barren, try to capture that.
>>2873661
Took this one during the New England blizzard a year ago. It's not good, but I tried to capture the barrenness you mentioned.

What kind of stuff are you after? You're right that Atlanta's not really a walking city.
>>2873661
>>2873738
I went out last night about half an hour after a big rainstorm, hoping the streets would be wet for exactly that sort of thing, but it had already dried out. I like your shot; I've never looked into redscaling.
>>2873768
Not exactly sure, I just want to be near people. I'm teetotaling this month and that's a lonely life for someone who's used to drinking and staying out til 2 every fckn night.
Also I moved here pretty recently, and taking pictures of people out there doing things helps me contextualize this city as a real place where people do things instead of just some layover in my life.
>>2873826
Gotcha. Yeah, Atlanta's a weird city. Like you said, it's definitely not a pedestrian city, especially in the late hours. There are certainly blocks where you have people out at all hours of the night, but the difference between a decent area and a (legitimately dangerous) crack town can be just a block or two, so it's hard to really figure out where to go. If you want people milling about at night, Peachtree St NE south of Baker St NE and down to Woodruff Park is probably your best bet. It's also reasonably close to Centennial. If you go more than a block or two south of Woodruff Park, though, it gets shady fast. It's weird, though, because going one street over in either direction while give you a ghost town. When there are major events going on downtown, there are lots of people everywhere, but that's not the norm.
Plus, late night in Atlanta isn't like 2:00 a.m. Unless there's an event going on, shit shuts down around 11:00 p.m. It's hard in the summer because you've only got an hour or two of legit darkness before there's nothing going on.
If you haven't been over to the square in Decatur, that'd be a place to check out. Again, it's not late, late night, but it's usually active during the evenings to some degree.
Good on you for the teetotaling thing. That ain't easy. Where'd you move from? That might help me get a better idea of what you could be looking for.
>>2872945
the whole series....it's ok...not good, not bad, work hard

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I moved from Virginia, although I wasn't doing any street photos there. You're right, I just need to go out earlier. I don't really know what I'm looking for here. Maybe a series will be born from it, but this is mostly just an experiment with framing and forms. Do you work as a photog here?
>>2875838
WIll do.
>>2875870
I actually like how focus got screwed in that one. I feel like it suggests a space for the observer to move into while the most obvious point of interest remains obscured. It makes me want to get closer and continue following.
>>2875885
Well yeah the lens is MF so obviously it was a user error. And with this lens, the focal plane moves as you extend outward from the image center and focus peaking isn't very useful at those light levels. Can you aggregate all your shit-posts into one post, next time?
>>2876271
Exactly!

>Do you work as a photog here?
Yeah, increasingly less and less though. I've got a decent paying day job, so I just take photography gigs every now and then for fun more than anything. Little bits of studio work, product photography, the occasional portrait/corporate/music/whatever session and shit like that. Since I don't need it for money, I don't really do shit like engagements or weddings or anything.
I live in the city, but it's been a few years since I've got out and just walked around taking pics. Being an adult and having real daytime job hours sorta killed the spur-of-the-moment walking around in the middle of the night thing.
>>2877657
Sounds ideal, good for you. I was doing headshot photography before I moved down here but I don't really give a shit about that anymore.
