Have you ever done something forbidden/illegal/reckless to get a picture?
Jumped a fence? Photographed in a no-photographs zone? Peeped through a hole in the wall?

Me and my friends go to a closed gigantic arena outside of town been shur down since the 70s but it was an old sports complex for some weird native American sport and all the players lived in dorms there. Its huge though about the size of a small shopping mall and about 5 stories tall

Post pics of the place, that sounds amazing

Abandoned hospital/asylum. Reckless because that building is vasically falling apart and stepping on anything is stupidly dangerous.
Illegal because there's a crazy expensive fee if you get caught inside, and they do check the surroundings for lights or noises.

Photographed eleven young models in a shower. I win.
honestly urbex photo feels too dependent on the gimmick of having pix of "forbidden" places, to the detriment of actual technique and composition and so on.
le cool abandoned urbex pics end up being photos that people want to see solely because of the subject matter without any regard for their artistic merit, and the fact that a quick snapshit of le spooky abandoned morgue has the same level of appeal as a carefully lighted image that took an hour to put together makes artistic laziness not only appealing but more sensible than the alternative.
that said i have done a lot of exploration of abandoned places in my day, i just dont have pictures. im from new orleans so half the fucking city was abandoned for years after katrina, and if you were willing to hop some fences it was easy as shit to stumble across one building after another that had been hastily abandoned and left untouched since aug 2005. it was like there were huge time capsules on every corner.
here's an example of a building that as of 2009-2010 was still exactly as it had been in 2005, including aug 2005 calendars on the wall and national guard spraypaint on the walls marking how many were dead and wounded in each wing of the hospital: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lindy_Boggs_Medical_Center
this place, too. last time I was there I saw two gators and a pack of wild dogs: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Six_Flags_New_Orleans

pretty much this. bonus points for shitty steel wool/signal flare photos.

Where Y'at? NOLA here also. Someone had posted a link to drone footage of Jazzland/Six Flags just a day or so ago. I was tempted by it for a couple years until reports that cops were arresting people there after photos started appearing on social media. Then again, I would rather take photos of pretty girls.

They exist, but they are few and rarely seen. I think they live in Vilhelmina
I've done so much trespassing that I'm kind of amazed I haven't accidentally woken up an angry hobo or gotten held at gunpoint by a property owner yet. Mostly rural buildings. Jumped fences, scaled walls, climbed trees up into windows, etc. I'll do pretty much anything short of breaking stuff to get inside a place. These days I'm more interested in the exploration for its own sake then for taking photos, but I still find interesting places to get into.
It's usually about six months before I start disliking my own photos, but I'll see what I'm okay with at the moment a share some.

I was driving around a train yard/industrial areas where I used to live (Nashville TN), I was driving extremely slowly and holding my camera out the window taking pics. It looked really sketch and eventually this unmarket SUV started following me. They pulled up beside me, rolled the window down and asked "can I help you?" told me to leave or they would call the police
Went exploring in Inner city detroit one time. close to downtown in the most blighted areas actually feel remarkably safe. There's a lot of open land, it's impossible for someone to sneak up on you unless it was nighttime

sometimes you can sneak backstage at a concert or a music festival if you just don't look at anybody's faces. look up and straight, but not at people
you can get into concerts if you fake your credentials and email yourself and use those at the door and pretend to throw a fit when your name isn't on the list
one time I was shooting this show with a friend and the band said they were gonna get us two photo passes but could only get one. I snuck into the venue when they were turned around and they eventually found me and told me to put my shit in my car. then my friend got bored of filming and just gave me his pass
yeah none of this shit is like urbex or illegal but fuck it

that's sad
